1. Fluid Dynamics in Stirred Vessels - Experiments and simulations of single-phase and liquid-liquid systems
Abstract : This thesis applies experimental measurement techniques and computational fluid dynamics to evaluate turbulent mixing of liquid-liquid systems in stirred vessels. Also studies of macro-instabilities in a single-phase system and how they affect flow and thus mixing are conducted. READ MORE

2. Liquid phase sintering of W-Ni-Fe composites : liquid penetration, agglomerate separation and tungsten particle growth
Abstract : The initial stage of liquid phase sintering, involving liquid penetration, agglomerate separation, particle spreading and growth has been investigated in experiments using tungsten heavy alloys. The particle composites used were produced by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) of pure powder mixtures of W-Ni-Fe-(Co). READ MORE

3. Fluid Mechanics of Solid-Liquid Suspensions An Experimental and Numerical Study
Abstract : Multiphase flows are common in many applications in chemical, mineral, biochemical and several other process industries. Examples of equipment in which multiphase flows are encountered are stirred vessels and multiphase jets, in which suspensions are agitated by an impeller in the former case and distributed through a nozzle in the latter. 4. Process modeling of liquid composite molding processes
Abstract : The polymer matrix composites (PMCs) are carving out a niche amid the keen market competition to replace the other material counterparts, e.g., metals. Due to the low weight and the corrosion resistance, the PMCs are wildly utilized from aerospace to automobile industries, both in the sectors of civilian and defense. READ MORE

5. Modelling of Mass and Heat Transport in Paper - Evaluation of Mechanisms and Shrinkage
Abstract : In this work a one-dimensional model for the mass and heat transport in the thickness direction of paper has been developed. Solid-based coordinates were applied to simplify incorporation of shrinkage. Liquid diffusion, gas convection and vapour and air diffusion were incorporated as mass transport mechansims. READ MORE
