  1. 11. Atomistic simulations of structural and dynamical properties of liquids under geometric constraints

    Author : Lorenzo Agosta; Alexander Lyubartsev; Marialore Sulpizi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; liquid; contraint; TiO2; surfaces; bio-inorganic; molecular dynamic; ab-initio; tight-binding; DFT; metadynamic; free energy; nanoparticles; water; amino acids; adsorption; mesophases; hexatic; smectic; triply periodic network; Fddd; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : The statistical-mechanical description of liquids represents a formidable problem in physic due to the absence of the analytical theory of the liquid state. Atomistic simulations represent a unique source of information in this respect and can be implemented in order address macroscopically measurable liquid properties, including its structure and dynamics, based on the information of the interactions between its constituent molecules. 2. 12. Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy Studies at the Air-Liquid Interface

    Author : Eric Tyrode; Mark Rutland; Paul Davies; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sum Frequency Generation; SFG; VSFS; surfactant; adsorption; water; surface structure; hydration; surface tension; fluorosurfactants; liquid-air interface; poly ethylene oxide surfactants; surface molecular orientation; acetic acid.; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the structure and hydration of small organic and amphipilic compounds adsorbed at the air-liquid interface, have been studied using the nonlinear optical technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS). The second order nature of the sum frequency process makes this technique particularly surface sensitive and very suitable for interfacial studies, as molecules at the surface can be distinguished even in the presence of a vast excess of the same molecules in the bulk. 3. 13. Transport Properties and Durability of LCP and FRP materials for process equipment

    Author : Stefanie Römhild; Mikael Hedenqvist; Rodney Rychwalski; KTH; []

  4. 14. Start-up and operational strategies for deammonification plants : - a study with one-stage moving bed biofilm reactors treating reject water

    Author : Linda Kanders; Eva Thorin; Susanne Lackner; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : To limit eutrophication, wastewater treatment plants use biological methods to convert degraded nitrogen to nitrogen gas. Deammonification, or partial nitritation in combination with anammox, has been shown to be an energy efficient process. READ MORE

  5. 15. Diffusion of Water in Foods during Heating

    Author : Karin Thorvaldsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion; mass transfer; mass transport; porous; water; moisture; heat; food;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this research was to improve the knowledge of diffusion of water in foods during heating, so that the final quality of foods after heat processing could be predicted and controlled. The work consisted of three main parts. The first part involved the development of a method to study the diffusion. READ MORE
