  1. 6. Regulation of digestive organ. An experimental study on the role of CCK, Bile and EGF

    Author : Bodil Ohlsson; Internmedicin - epidemiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; trophic effects; total parenteral nutrition; salivary glands; pancreaticobiliary diversion; pancreas; liver; intestinal mucosa; epidermal growth factor; cholecystokinin; biliodigestive shunt; Bile; bilary tract; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Gastro-enterology; Gastroenterologi;

    Abstract : Cholecystokinin (CCK) is known to exert secretory and trophic effects on the pancreas. Its release from the intestinal mucosa is regulated by pancresic proteases in the small intestine. However, knowledge about the type of responding exocrine cells and the time course of events during stimulation with CCK is lacking. READ MORE

  2. 7. Opportunistic viral infection after paediatric transplantation

    Author : Carola Kullberg-Lindh; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: Opportunistic viral infections can cause considerable morbidity and mortality in organ and stem cell transplanted (SCT) patients, mainly due to iatrogenic T cell dysfunction. Whereas in SCT patients, in general the immunosuppressive treatment can be discontinued after 6-12 months, for the majority of organ transplanted patients, the need for treatment is life-long. 3. 8. Liver Transplantation-associated Food Allergy and Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Inflammation in Children - Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    Author : Timo Käppi; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on three recently described childhood-onset gastrointestinal disorders: liver transplantation-associated food allergy (LTFA), collagenous gastritis (CG) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Its aim was to gain additional understanding of both the clinical disease characteristics and the associated immunological aberrations in these conditions. READ MORE

    Abstract : Drugs and other foreign compounds must often be metabolised before they can be excreted from the body. One enzyme system that is responsible for this is the cytochrome P450 gene family (CYP). READ MORE

    Abstract : Organ transplantation provides a treatment of end-stage disease primarily in the kidney, liver and heart. The immunosuppressive treatment regimens of today efficiently prevent early acute rejection; however the long-term survival has not improved to the same extent. READ MORE
