  1. 1. Liver regeneration : With reference to malnutrition and growth factors

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Stefan Skullman; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [1993]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cholecystokinin; energy substrates; epidermal growth factor; insulin-like growth factor I; liver composition; liver regeneration; malnutrition; pancreaticobiliary diversion; protein synthesis; rat; transfonning growth factor alpha; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The liver has a unique capacity to regenerate after damage, irrespective of cause. The regulatory mechanisms of this regeneration are not fully known. Liver regeneration· is associated with rapid growth and thereby increased demands for energy and synthesis of new compounds. READ MORE

    Abstract : The studies presented here evaluate the biliary, parenchymal and vascular enhancement effects of two T1-shortening liver-specific contrast agents, Gd-BOPTA and Gd-EOB-DTPA, in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of healthy subjects and of patients.Ten healthy volunteers were examined with both contrast agents in a 1. 3. 3. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Ville Wallenius; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2000]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Liver; cytokine; interleukin-6; tumor necrosis factor; primary liver growth promoter; cyproterone acetate; nafenopin; hepatocyte growth factor; HGF receptor; tumor; sarcoma; N-terminal; truncated;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain. 4. 4. Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases Effects of Chemotherapy on Liver Parenchyma and Resections

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Jozef Urdzik; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]

    Abstract : Current multimodal treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastasis often combines liver resections with preoperative chemotherapy with a 5-year survival of 40-50%. Preoperative chemotherapy includes conversion of initially non-resectable situation and control of micrometastatic disease. READ MORE
