  1. 1. Liver regeneration : With reference to malnutrition and growth factors

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköpings universitet

    Author : Stefan Skullman; [1993]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cholecystokinin; energy substrates; epidermal growth factor; insulin-like growth factor I; liver composition; liver regeneration; malnutrition; pancreaticobiliary diversion; protein synthesis; rat; transfonning growth factor alpha; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The liver has a unique capacity to regenerate after damage, irrespective of cause. The regulatory mechanisms of this regeneration are not fully known. Liver regeneration· is associated with rapid growth and thereby increased demands for energy and synthesis of new compounds. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ultrasound based shear wave elastography of the liver a non-invasive method for evaluation of liver disease

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå University

    Author : Marie Byenfeldt; Anders Elvin; Per Fransson; Odd Helge Gilja; [2020]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anthropometric measurement; diagnostic imaging; elasticity imaging technique; blood supply; BMI; body position; fatty liver; liver disease; hepatic steatosis; liver fibrosis; liver stiffness; obesity; postural change; pressure; probe; sex characteristic; shear wave elastography; skin-to-liver capsule distance; transducer and ultrasonography; Radiography; radiografi;

    Abstract : Background: Detecting liver disease at an early stage is important, given that early intervention decreases the risk of developing cirrhosis and subsequently hepatocellular cancer (HCC). The non-invasive ultrasound-based shear wave elastography (SWE) has been used clinically for a decade to assess liver stiffness. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantitative Evaluation of Contrast Agent Dynamics in Liver MRI

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Abstract : The studies presented here evaluate the biliary, parenchymal and vascular enhancement effects of two T1-shortening liver-specific contrast agents, Gd-BOPTA and Gd-EOB-DTPA, in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of healthy subjects and of patients.Ten healthy volunteers were examined with both contrast agents in a 1. 4. 4. Hormonal regulation of liver and tumor growth

    University dissertation from Göteborg

    Author : Ville Wallenius; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2000]

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the regulatory functions of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) on liver growth, and the importance of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and the HGF receptor (Met) for growth of mesenchyme-derived tumors. The studies on different types of liver growth, measured as weight, DNA and protein content, and DNA synthesis, were performed on mice lacking the IL-6 or the TNF receptor-1 gene back-crossed to the C57bl/6 strain.
