12. Steel members strengthened with carbon fibre reinforced polymers - A study of local and global structural behaviour
Abstract : Investigations have been conducted by several research groups to study the effect of using carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP) as reinforcement on steel beams and a brief summary of this work is given in this thesis. Laboratory studies of reinforced steel beams demonstrate that the bending stiffness and the ultimate load-carrying capacity can be significantly increased. READ MORE

13. Advances in Ventilation Heat Recovery : An assessment of peak loads shaving using renewables
Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of total global energy usage. In residential buildings located in cold climate countries, 30-60% of this energy isused for space heating, 20–30% is lost by discarded residential wastewater, and therest is devoted to ventilation heat loss. 14. Wetting and drying of aerogel-based coating mortars in Swedish climates
Abstract : Aerogel-based coating mortars (ACMs) have emerged as energy-efficient wall finishes with thermal conductivities of 30–50 mW/(m∙K). These coating mortars represent a promising alternative to traditional thermal insulation materials for retrofitting uninsulated building envelopes particularly in culturally significant structures. 15. Stiffness of reverse channel connections at room and elevated temperatures
Abstract : A frame structure exposed to fire undergoes two types of changes due to the resulting temperature fields. The first is the thermal expansion of the structural members and the second is the degradation of the material strength and stiffness as temperature rises. READ MORE
