2. Neutron scattering for sustainable energy materials: investigations of proton dynamics in acceptor doped barium zirconates
Abstract : Proton conducting oxides are currently receiving considerable attention for their present or potential use as electrolytes in technological devices such as sensors and electrolysers and, in particular, solid oxide fuel cells, which are among the most promising apparatuses for energy conversion. One of the main challenges for these latter devices is to combine the advantages of a solid electrolyte with those of operational temperatures below 750 °C, which is currently hampered by insufficient conductivities in the targeted temperature range. 3. Local structure and dynamics of proton and hydride-ion conducting perovskite type oxides
Abstract : Proton and hydride-ion conducting oxides show potential for application in several technological devices, such as solid oxide fuel cells and batteries. However, fundamental properties pertaining to the local structure and conduction mechanisms in these materials are unclear. READ MORE

4. Functional Ceramics in Biomedical Applications : On the Use of Ceramics for Controlled Drug Release and Targeted Cell Stimulation
Abstract : Ceramics are distinguished from metals and polymers by their inorganic nature and lack of metallic properties. They can be highly crystalline to amorphous, and their physical and chemical properties can vary widely. READ MORE

5. Binary mixtures and cationic modification of protic ionic liquids. Local structure and transport properties
Abstract : Protic ionic liquids are a subclass of ionic liquids, which in many cases are obtained by mixing an equimolar amount of Brønsted acid and base. Protic ionic liquids possess an exchangeable proton that gives them distinct features, e.g. READ MORE
