  1. 21. Laser Diagnostics for Applications to In-Cylinder Engine Investigations

    Author : Robert Collin; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LII; Rayleigh scattering; formaldehyde; OH; soot; dimethyl ether; Laser technology; Fysik; Laserteknik; Physics; LIF; Laser diagnostics; combustion engines; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Collin;

    Abstract : In the work presented in the thesis laser diagnostics was employed primarily in the investigation of engines, but was also used to study soot in flames. Quantitative measurements were performed for visualizing both in-cylinder soot formation and DME sprays in a combustion vessel. READ MORE

  2. 22. European bioenergy markets : integration and price convergence

    Author : Olle Olsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Energy market integration is beneficial in several ways: it can increase competition, reduce the risk of local shortages or oversupply and can also reduce price volatility. As demand for renewable energy is growing, bioenergy from solid biomass fuels is changing from its traditional role as a locally utilized form of energy into an internationally traded energy commodity. 3. 23. Fate of Cu, Cr, As and some other trace elements during combustion of recovered waste fuels

    Author : Karin Lundholm; Anders Nordin; Britt-Marie Steenari; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; chemical equilibrium model calculations; trace elements; impregnated wood; waste; thermodynamic data; Cu; Cr; As; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Abstract : The increased use of biomass and recovered waste fuels in favor of fossil fuels for heat and power production is an important step towards a sustainable future. Combustion of waste fuels also offers several advantages over traditional landfilling, such as substantial volume reduction, detoxification of pathological wastes, and reduction of toxic leaches and greenhouse gas (methane) formation from landfills. 4. 24. Aroma characterisation and retention after heat treatment and drying of fruits using extraction and GC-MS analysis

    Author : Rui Ráice; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fruits; Vangueria infausta; Mangifera indica; volatile; aroma; blanching; drying; encapsulation; modelling; GC-MS.;

    Abstract : This study concerns the identification and characterisation of volatile components of fruits, and evaluation of the effect of heat treatment and drying on retention or loss of volatiles of fruits. The investigation included developing a procedure to extract volatile components from the fruit matrix, a purification step, separation, identification and quantification. READ MORE

  5. 25. Risk matters : studies in finance, trade and politics

    Author : Jonas Vlachos; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four self-contained empirical essays. In the first essays "Markets for Risk and Openness to Trade: How are They Related?" (with Helena Svaleryd), we ask if there is an empirical relationship between financial development and openness to trade. READ MORE
