  1. 21. Evaluation of locally available feed resources for striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus)

    Author : Chau Thi Da; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated and compared inputs and outputs, economic factors and current feed use in small-scale farming systems producing striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) in the Mekong Delta. The nutrient content of locally available natural feed resources for striped catfish was determined and growth performance, feed utilisation and body indices were analysed in pond-cultured striped catfish fed diets where fish meal protein was replaced with protein from local feed resources. 2. 22. Allograft bone in hip revision: the effect of locally applied pharmacological treatment

    Author : Ola Belfrage; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; allograft bone; bone transplantation; bisphosphonate; bone morphogenetic proteins; hip revision; radiostereometric analysis;

    Abstract : The clinical success of primary hip replacement is paramount but the need for revisions will continue to increase due to the increasing number of operated individuals. In Sweden, the number of hip revisions in 2012 exceeded 2,300. During implant loosening, some of the bone in the femur is lost, which can make the revision more difficult. READ MORE

  3. 23. Innervation patterns and locally produced signal substances in the human patellar tendon : of importance when understanding the processes of tendinosis

    Author : Patrik Danielson; Sture Forsgren; Håkan Alfredson; Graham Riley; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; patellar tendon; innervation; tendinosis; tendinopathy; acetylcholine; catecholamines; muscarinic receptors; adrenergic receptors; Anatomy; Anatomi;

    Abstract : Tendinosis is a condition of chronic pain that afflicts several human tendons, not least the patellar tendon, in which case it is often clinically referred to as ‘jumper’s knee’. The exact mechanisms behind tendinosis are yet not fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 24. Evaluation of locally available feed resources for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Rwanda

    Author : Leon Niyibizi; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Aquaculture was introduced in Rwanda in the 1940s as an extensive pond-based system but the sector has gained in popularity during the past two decades, resulting in greater numbers of fish ponds and a corresponding increase in demand for quality fish feeds for sustainable aquaculture production. The aim of this thesis was to identify, sample and evaluate the nutritive value of some locally available feed ingredients that could be used by fish farmers producing Nile tilapia. READ MORE

  5. 25. Identifying locally induced loads in hard rock tunnel linings by distributed optical fibre sensors

    Author : August Jansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Distributed optical fibre sensors; Structural health monitoring; Tunnel lining experiments;

    Abstract : In an infrastructure system, tunnels enable fast means of transportation in impassable terrain or city areas. However, inspections and maintenance can be expensive due to long down time and, in hard rock tunnels, the complexity of the structure may lead to over designing. READ MORE
