  1. 1. On the Logic of Theory Change : Extending the AGM Model

    Author : Eduardo Fermé; John Cantwell; David Makinson; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Logic of Theory Change. AGM model. Belief Bases; Iterated Models; Multiple belief change; AGM and defeasible Logic; Logic; Logik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists in six articles and a comprehensive summary. • The pourpose of the summary is to introduce the AGM theory of belief change and to exemplify the diversity and significance of the research that has been inspired by the AGM article in the last 25 years. READ MORE

  2. 2. Representation theorems for abelian and model categories

    Author : Anna Giulia Montaruli; Peter LeFanu Lumsdaine; Gregory Arone; Marek Zawadowski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Category Theory; Logic; Algebra; Homotopy Theory; matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : In this PhD thesis we investigate a representation theorem for small abelian categories and a representation theorem for left proper, enriched model categories, with the purpose of describing them concretely in terms of specific well-known categories.For the abelian case, we study the constructivity issues of the Freyd-Mitchell Embedding Theorem, which states the existence of a full embedding from a small abelian category into the category of modules over an appropriate ring. 3. 3. Limit Laws, Homogenizable Structures and Their Connections

    Author : Ove Ahlman; Vera Koponen; Dugald Macpherson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model theory; random structure; finite model theory; simple theory; homogeneous structure; countably categorical; 0-1 law; Mathematical Logic; Matematisk logik; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is in the field of mathematical logic and especially model theory. The thesis contain six papers where the common theme is the Rado graph R. Some of the interesting abstract properties of R are that it is simple, homogeneous (and thus countably categorical), has SU-rank 1 and trivial dependence. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regular Model Checking

    Author : Marcus Nilsson; Bengt Jonsson; Parosh Aziz Abdulla; Kim Larsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; formal methods; model checking; verification; regular sets; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : A major current challenge in the area of program verification is to extend its applicability to infinite-state systems. A system can be infinite-state because it operates on unbounded data structures, such as queues, stacks, integers, etc., or because its description is parameterized by the number of components inside the system. 5. 5. On Formal Specification and Verification of Function Block Applications in Industrial Control Logic Development

    Author : Oscar Ljungkrantz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; safety logic; function block; IEC 61131; software requirements and specification; formal verification; reusable automation component RAC ; temporal logic; manufacturing automation software; programmable logic controller PLC ; model checking;

    Abstract : Developing a control system for an automated manufacturing system is a challenging task. In addition to controlling and coordinating the machines and robots used in the production, the safety of the operators must be assured. READ MORE
