  1. 21. Lefschetz Properties of Monomial Ideals

    Author : Nasrin Altafi; Mats Boij; Alicia Dickenstein; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Weak Lefschetz property; monomial ideals; group actions; almost linear resolution; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the study of the Lefschetz properties of artinian monomial algebras. An artinian algebra is said to satisfy the strong Lefschetz property if multiplication by all powers of a general linear form has maximal rank in every degree. If it holds for the first power it is said to have the weak Lefschetz property (WLP). READ MORE

  2. 22. Configuration spaces, props and wheel-free deformation quantization

    Author : Theo Backman; Sergei Merkulov; Sergei Shadrin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operad; properad; prop; deformation quantization; configuration space; Lie bialgebra; Poisson manifold; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : The main theme of this thesis is higher algebraic structures that come from operads and props.The first chapter is an introduction to the mathematical framework needed for the content of this thesis. The chapter does not contain any new results. READ MORE

  3. 23. Cohomology of the moduli space of curves of genus three with level two structure

    Author : Olof Bergvall; Carel Faber; Jonas Bergström; Johannes Nicaise; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Algebraic geometry; Moduli space; Cohomology; Symplectic structure; Point count; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we investigate the moduli space M3[2] of curves of genus 3 equipped with a symplectic level 2 structure. In particular, we are interested in the cohomology of this space. We obtain cohomological information by decomposing M3[2] into a disjoint union of two natural subspaces, Q[2] and H3[2], and then making S7- resp. READ MORE

  4. 24. Empty Names and Reference

    Author : Anna Bjurman; Teoretisk filosofi; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; disquotational reference; pretense; possible individuals; fictional world; intensional fictional operator; rigidity; empty names; reference; Philosophical logic; Teoretisk filosofi; logik;

    Abstract : The problem of empty names derives from the fact that empty names fail to refer. The reference failure of empty names implies that sentences containing empty names lack truth-conditions. As a consequence those sentences are meaningless, according to many theories of meaning. 5. 25. Contributions to the Metamathematics of Arithmetic: Fixed Points, Independence, and Flexibility

    Author : Rasmus Blanck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; arithmetic; incompleteness; flexibility; independence; non-standard models; partial conservativity; interpretability;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the incompleteness phenomenon of first-order arithmetic: no consistent, r.e. theory T can prove every true arithmetical sentence. The first incompleteness result is due to Gödel; classic generalisations are due to Rosser, Feferman, Mostowski, and Kripke. READ MORE
