  1. 16. Allosteric regulation of synaptic processes

    Author : Ranjita Dutta Roy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Glutamatergic neurotransmission is of key importance for short-term and long-term plasticity in the hippocampus, a part of the medial temporal lobe which is responsible for processes of explicit semantic and spatial memory. Short-term plasticity is mainly regulated by the presynaptic neuron and long-term plasticity is to large parts regulated by the post-synaptic neuron. READ MORE

  2. 17. Multi-LSTM Acceleration and CNN Fault Tolerance

    Author : Stefano Ribes; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compression; SVD; LSTMs; CNNs; Fault Tolerance; Machine Learning; FPGA; Roofline Model; HLS; Caffe;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the following two problems related to the field of Machine Learning: the acceleration of multiple Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) models on FPGAs and the fault tolerance of compressed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). LSTMs represent an effective solution to capture long-term dependencies in sequential data, like sentences in Natural Language Processing applications, video frames in Scene Labeling tasks or temporal series in Time Series Forecasting. 3. 18. The neural mechanisms of selective attention : Investigation of insect selective attention during visual object tracking using neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, computational modelling

    Author : Bo Bekkouche; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The brain simulates the world around us using sensory information and provides an estimation of reality in which actions can be executed. This estimation of reality is controlled by attention which decides which information is accepted, further processed and ignored. READ MORE

  4. 19. On functions, abilities and quality of life after subarachnoid haemorrhage : occupational therapy aspects

    Author : Margareta Lindberg; Axel Fugl-Meyer; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Subarachnoid heamorrhage; impairment; disability; activities of daily living; work; leisure; depression; quality of life; rehabilitation; occupational therapy;

    Abstract : This investigation addresses functions/impairments, abilities/disabilities and quality of life (QoL) in a consecutive series of non-hospitalised long-term survivors (2,5-12 years) of subarachnoid heamorrhage (SAH). The investigated parameters of functions/impairments were: motor, language, perceptual and memory functions. READ MORE

  5. 20. Fats in Mind : Effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids on Cognition and Behaviour in Childhood

    Author : Ulrika Birberg Thornberg; Thomas Karlsson; Magnus Lindgren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Cognition; Omega-3 Fatty Acids; Children; ADHD; Executive Functions; kognition; omega-3 fettsyror; barn; ADHD; exekutiva funktioner; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to examine possible effects of omega-3 fatty acids on children’s cognition and behavior. Longitudinal as well as cross-sectional comparisons were made among children with typical development and children with ADHD /at risk developing ADHD. READ MORE
