  1. 1. Longitudinal Force Distribution and Road Vehicle Handling

    Author : Matthijs Klomp; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ehicle dynamics; quasi steady-state; drive force; combined grip; longitudinal force distribution; combined slip; vehicle handling; optimization;

    Abstract : The distribution of longitudinal forces has a large influence on vehicle handling characteristics such as the driver/vehicle interaction, road holding and yaw stability, in particular during combined traction/braking and cornering near the grip limit of the tires. In order to select and develop suitable driveline systems and associated active control that provide consistent driver/vehicle handling, maximum road holding and sufficient yaw stability margins, it is essential to understand the influence of a particular drive force distribution on these handling characteristics. 2. 2. I-girder Composite Bridges with Lateral Bracing : Improved load distribution

    Author : Victor Vestman; Peter Collin; Robert Hällmark; Hans Petursson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; assessment; bridge; composite bridge; steel-concrete composite; I-girder; case study; horizontal trusses; lateral bracing; rehabilitation; strengthening; torsional stiffness; upgrading; Byggkonstruktion; Structural Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the subject of lateral bracing between the bottom flanges of I-girder composite bridges. The focus is on the impact of adding lateral bracing on existing bridges, as well as on new bridges. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bayesian Cluster Analysis : Some Extensions to Non-standard Situations

    Author : Jessica Franzén; Daniel Thorburn; Jukka Corander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cluster analysis; Clustering; Classification; Mixture model; Gaussian; Bayesian inference; MCMC; Gibbs sampler; Deviant group; Longitudinal; Missing data; Multiple imputation; Statistics; Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : The Bayesian approach to cluster analysis is presented. We assume that all data stem from a finite mixture model, where each component corresponds to one cluster and is given by a multivariate normal distribution with unknown mean and variance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Rarity in boreal stream: patterns, causes and consequences

    Author : Per-Ola Hoffsten; Bo W. Svensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; Central Sweden; site occupancy; dispersal limitation; natural disturbances; recolonization; flight-morphology; metapopulation; habitat stability; spring specialists; Crunoecia irrorata; niche limitation; Isogenus nubecula; nestedness; longitudinal distribution; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Patterns of site occupancy among boreal stream insects were studied in central Sweden with focus on sparsely distributed species and the role of dispersal and niche limitations.In the study of dispersal limitation, I found that effects of an extraordinarily harsh winter in small to medium-sized streams were strongest in sites located in small streams and far from lake outlets. 5. 5. Individual differences in the aging memory : Mediation accounts, moderators, and contextual factors

    Author : Ola Sternäng; Åke Wahlin; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Nancy Pedersen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; cognitive aging; interactions; context; mediation accounts; cross-cultural; longitudinal; individual differences; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Within the field of cognitive aging, mediation accounts propose that age affects cognitive abilities through a mediator variable. Most of these mediation accounts are developed based on studies with cross-sectional designs. READ MORE
