  1. 1. Closed-Loop Combustion Control of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management

    Author : Göran Haraldsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CR; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Motors and propulsion systems; Teknik; Technological sciences; Closed-Loop Combustion Control; CLCC; Multi cylinder; HCCI; Black box; System identification; State feedback; PID; LQG; Fast Thermal Management; FTM; VCR Variable Compression Ratio;

    Abstract : The current Spark Ignited (SI) engine equipped with three-way catalyst offers low emissions, but has low efficiency at part load, which results in unnecessarily high CO2 emissions. The Compression Ignited (CI) engines have higher efficiency and hence lower CO2 emissions, but suffer from higher Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions, and no three-way catalyst can be used. 2. 2. Indirect System Identification for Unknown Input Problems : With Applications to Ships

    Author : Jonas Linder; Martin Enqvist; Fredrik Gustafsson; Alexandre Sanfelice Bazanella; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System identification; Model structure; Unknown inputs; Indirect input measurements; Physical models; Instrumental variable; Closed loop; Graybox model; Identifiability; Ship; Marine vessel; Operational safety; Inertial measurement unit;

    Abstract : System identification is used in engineering sciences to build mathematical models from data. A common issue in system identification problems is that the true inputs to the system are not fully known. In this thesis, existing approaches to unknown input problems are classified and some of their properties are analyzed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Building Physics Tools: Needs, Use and the Lack of Use in the Building Process. Modelling Non-Isothermal Moisture Flow and Frost Penetration

    Author : Stephen Burke; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; isothermal; costs; building physics tools; moisture damages; learning loop; experience; causal loop diagrams; non-isothermal; moisture transport;

    Abstract : Despite advances in material science, computers and building technology, building failures related to building physics continue to occur. These failures range from a building not meeting its energy use target to a building causing people to become ill from exposure to various chemicals or biological organisms. READ MORE

  5. 5. Closed-Loop Control of HCCI Engine Dynamics

    Author : Johan Bengtsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; robotteknik; Automatiska system; reglerteknik; Automation; robotics; control engineering;

    Abstract : The topic of the thesis is control of Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine dynamics. HCCI offers a potential to combine high efficiency with very low emissions. In order to fulfill the potential benefits, closed-loop control is needed. READ MORE
