  1. 6. Energy and Design Cost Efficiency for Streaming Applications on Systems-on-Chip

    Author : Jun Zhu; Axel Jantsch; Twan Basten; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streaming applications; Systems-on-chip; Synchronous dataflow; energy efficiency; buffer minimization; performance analysis; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : With the increasing capacity of today's integrated circuits, a number ofheterogeneous  system-on-chip (SoC)  architectures  in embedded  systemshave been proposed. In order to achieve energy and design cost efficientstreaming applications  on these  systems, new design  space explorationframeworks  and  performance  analysis  approaches are  required. 2. 7. Optical interconnects and high frequency electronic packaging : SBU-materials, material characterization, LAP- & microprocessing

    Author : Steffen Uhlig; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optical interconnects; overview opto coupling components; overview planar waveguide amplifiers; large area panel processing; polymer waveguides; multilayer thin film technology; ORMOCER®; sequential build up; permittivity; dielectric loss;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to discuss and demonstrate optical interconnect technologies. These can be used to enhance the data throughput capacity of future printed circuit boards and backplanes, i.e. exchange Copper conductors with light conductors. READ MORE

  3. 8. On Sequential Treatment Allocations in Clinical Trials

    Author : Carl-Fredrik Burman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; treatment assignment; clinical trial; biased coin designs; balance of prognostic factors; sequential design; randomization test; expected p-value; deficiency; efficiency; efficiency;

    Abstract : This dissertation treats baseline-dependent sequential designs of two-treatment parallel-group clinical trials. The treatment assignments are chosen in order to minimize the variance, in a linear model, of the treatment effect. This is done for each new allocation using a generalized biased coin design, or a non-randomized minimization' method. READ MORE

  4. 9. Modulation of Modular Multilevel Converters for HVDC Transmission

    Author : Arman Hassanpoor; Hans-Peter Nee; Staffan Norrga; Rainer Marquardt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVDC; switching schemes; modulation; high power converters; power grids; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The outstanding features of modular multilevel converters (MMC) have recently gained much attention in the high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission field. Power quality, converter cost and system performance are three crucial aspects of HVDC MMCs which are directly linked to the converter modulation and switching schemes. READ MORE

  5. 10. Radio Resource Optimization for OFDM-based Broadband Cellular Systems

    Author : Lei Lei; Di Yuan; Michael Reyer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The rapid growth of users’ traffic demand in broadband wireless communication systems requires high-speed data transmission and intelligent resource allocation approaches. The Third Generation Partnership Project-Long Term Evolution (3GPPLTE) has standardized multiple access (MA) schemes for 4G cellular networks. READ MORE
