1. Low-Density Lipoprotein Oxidation and Renal Dysfunction : New Markers of Poor Prognosis in Patients with Unstable Coronary Artery Disease
Abstract : In patients with unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) biochemical markers are emerging as useful tools in clinical management. In this thesis we studied the use of markers of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and renal function. READ MORE

2. Studies of atherogenic lipoproteins using mass spectrometry-based lipidomics
Abstract : The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing worldwide and is about to reach epidemic proportions. The disease is often associated with dyslipidemia which is characterized by an atherogenic lipoprotein profile including elevated serum triacylglycerol levels, low high-density lipoprotein levels and high levels of small low-density lipoproteins. 3. Model Membranes and Their Interactions with Native and Artificial Lipoproteins
Abstract : Atherosclerosis arises from build-up of plaque in the blood, can result in cardiovascular disease and is the largest killer in the west. Low- and high-density lipoproteins are involved in the disease development by depositing and removing lipids to and from artery walls. READ MORE

4. Proteoglycans, group IIA phospholipase A2, and lipoproteins.Potential involvement in atherogenesis
Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial complex disease characterized by a focal accumulation of ApoB-100 containing lipoproteins, extracellular matrix (ECM), and cells in the arterial intima accompanied by an inflammatory reaction. In vivo and in vitro data supports the hypothesis that sulfated extracellular proteoglycans may be responsible for the selective retention of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in the arterial wall. 5. Interaction of Triglyceride-rich Lipoproteins with Platelets and Vitamin K-dependent Coagulation Factors
Abstract : 1. During incubation of platelets with 3H-arachidonic acid (20:4, n-6) and 14C-cholesterol doubly labelled and colloidal gold labelled chylomicrons (CMs) and chylomicron remnants (CMRs) CMs were taken up more efficiently than CMRs. Addition of unlabelled CMs, VLDLs, LDLs and HDLs decreased the uptake of labelled CMs. READ MORE
