  1. 1. Experimental Investigation of Refrigerant Charge Minimisation of a Small Capacity Heat Pump

    Author : W. Primal D. Fernando; Björn Palm; Alberto Gavallini; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat pump; propane; low-charge; Wilson plot method; minichannels; aluminium heat exhangers; single.phase flow; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : Enormous quantities of heat are available in air, soil, water, exhaust air from buildings, and in waste water of any kind. However these heat sources are use-less for heating purposes since their temperatures are lower than the tempera-ture required for heating. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water

    Author : Anna Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self diffusion; PFG NMR; hexagonal; cubic Pm3n; liquid crystals; SAXS; polymer; counterion; complex; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; Monte Carlo simulations; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Chemical Methods for Improving the Fracture Toughness of Paper

    Author : Andrew T. Horvath; Lars Wågberg; Theo van de Ven; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chemistry; physical chemistry; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Paper is a network material composed of a great number of fibers that interact with each other through fiber joints. In order to make a clear statement regarding observed changes being made in paper, it is vital to determine the structural level of paper that is being affected by chemical modifications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pre-breakdown Phenomena in Mineral Oil Based Nanofluids

    Author : Mauricio Aljure; Marley Becerra Garcia; Øystein Leif Gurandsrud Hestad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Mineral oil is a dielectric liquid commonly used in high voltage equipment such as power transformers. Interestingly, it has been experimentally observed that the dielectric strength of the mineral oil is improved when nanoparticles are added. READ MORE

  5. 5. Synthesis and Characterisation of Conjugated Polymers with High Electron Affinity

    Author : Maria Jonforsen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; light-emitting diode; solar cell; quinoxaline; conjugated polymer; photodiode; 4-b]pyrazine; pyrido[3; synthesis; photo-oxidation; electron affinity; pyridine;

    Abstract : This thesis describes synthesis and characterisation of conjugated polymers with high electron affinities. Polymers of this type are desired, for example, for use in light-emitting devices or as electron accepting material in photodiodes/solar cells. READ MORE
