    Abstract : In this thesis ionic liquids (ILs) are investigated as prospective candidates for lubrication. Three custom synthesized phosphonium orthoborate type ILs were extensively studied from the prospective of molecular structuring both in bulk and at the interface and from the prospective of their lubricating performance as neat lubricants and as additives in oils. 2. 2. Environmentally adapted lubricants : properties and performance

    Author : Anders Pettersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : The lubricants of the future have to be more environmentally adapted, show a higher level of performance, and give a lower total life cycle cost (LCC) than the lubricants that are used today. One way to be able to produce, choose and formulate these lubricants is to have good knowledge about the properties of the base fluids and their additive response. READ MORE

  3. 3. Some aspects on lubrication and roll wear in rolling mills

    Author : Mohammed Tahir; KTH; []
    Keywords : strip rolling; lubricants; environment; roll wear modeling. Production campaigns; regression analysis;

    Abstract : The thesis is focused on lubricants and roll wear in striprolling.Regarding lubricants, the possibility of introducing newones, which are less detrimental towards environment, isstudied in laboratory scale. This is done for cold rolling,both of an Al- alloy and a low carbon steel. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electrical Characterisations of Bearings

    Author : Abhishek Joshi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ball bearing; Equivalent circuit model; Lubricants; Bearing Capacitance; Spherical bearing; Mechanical bearing; Bearing currents; Electrical conduction; Electrical characterisation;

    Abstract : Mechanical bearings are an integral part of industry, and are used in various places in order to reduce friction between two interacting surfaces and are used to transmit power and loads. Mechanical bearings are one of the most extensively used components within the wind industry, but on the other hand they are also one of the most dominantly failing failed components. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ionic Liquid Lubricants for Space Applications

    Author : Erik Nyberg; Ichiro Minami; Javier Martin-Torres; Maria-Dolores Bermudez; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Lubrication is critical to the efficient and reliable operation of machine elements such as gears, bearings, or any other moving mechanical assembly (MMA). On Earth, machine designers are accustomed to the access of a wide range of liquid lubricants that enable predictable and reliable long-term operations of high performance MMA. READ MORE
