  1. 1. Emittance preservation and luminosity tuning in future linear colliders

    Author : Peder Eliasson; Tord Ekelöf; Grahame Blair; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linear colliders; CLIC; ILC; emittance preservation; luminosity tuning; beam-based alignment; dispersion free steering; tuning bumps; trajectory feedback; static imperfections; dynamic imperfections; jitter; ground motion; ATL model; multi-pulse emittance; curved tunnel; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The future International Linear Collider (ILC) and Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) are intended for precision measurements of phenomena discovered at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and also for the discovery of new physics. In order to offer optimal conditions for such experiments, the new colliders must produce very-high-luminosity collisions at energies in the TeV regime. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exotic Decays of Vector-Like Quarks and Development of a Test Procedure for the ITk Strip Module at the ATLAS Detector for the HL-LHC

    Author : Thomas Mathisen; Elin Bergeås Kuutmann; Venugopal Ellajosyula; Richard Brenner; Freya Blekman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Standard Model; BSM; Composite Higgs; Fine-tuning; Naturalness; Vector-Like Quarks; HL-LHC; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Abstract : The naturalness problem of the Standard Model (SM) challenges our understanding of the origin of mass. Several theories have been proposed to tackle the problem, one of them is the Composite Higgs Model (CHM) where the Higgs boson of the SM is not an elementary scalar but instead a composite object bound at a confinement scale of a TeV. 3. 3. Exploring particle physics beyond the Standard Model

    Author : Sebastian Baum; Katherine Freese; Klas Hultqvist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : The standard model of particle physics (SM) is arguably the best tested theory of physics, providing an accurate description of virtually all high energy particle physics phenomena observable in the laboratory. However, the SM also has a number of shortcomings: some of more theoretical nature such as the fine-tuning problem of the Higgs or the strong-CP problem, and some of more phenomenological nature such as not allowing for a satisfying implementation of neutrino masses and the lack of a suitable candidate for the observed dark matter of the Universe.
