  1. 1. LIPASES AND PHOSPHOLIPASES IN PHOSPHOLIPID SYNTHESIS

    Author : Carmen Virto; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transphosphatidylation; acylation; vinyl ester; Phospholipid synthesis; lysophospholipid; kinetics; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The synthesis of phospholipids with defined fatty acid and polar head composition catalysed by lipases and phospholipases was investigated. Lipases from Rhizopus arrhizus and Candida antarctica were used for the direct acylation of DL-a-glycerophosphate and L-a-glycerophosphatidylcholine, with different fatty acids. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phospholipase A2 expression in the human nasal mucosa

    Author : John Lindbom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is a superfamily of enzymes that play a key role in inflammation by releasing arachidonic acid for the synthesis of eicosanoids and lysophospholipid for the synthesis of platelet-activating factor (PAF). On the other hand, several members of the PLA2 family (VIIA, VIIB, VIIIA and VIIIB) are able to degrade PAF and are therefore potentially important anti-inflammatory enzymes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Phospholipase A2 expression in the human nasal mucosa

    Author : John Lindbom; Roger Sundler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is a superfamily of enzymes that promote inflammation by releasing arachidonic acid for the synthesis of eicosanoids and lysophospholipid for the synthesis of platelet-activating factor (PAF). On the other hand, several members of the PLA2 family (VIIA, VIIB, VIIIA and VIIIB) are able to degrade PAF and are therefore potentially important anti-inflammatory enzymes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies on the structure, function and expression of phospholipase A2

    Author : Pontus Larsson Forsell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) enzymes are widely distributed and the enzymes possess different functions such as a role in digestion and inflammation. PLA2 catalyzes the hydrolysis of the sn-2 acylester bond of phospholipids, yielding a free fatty acid and a lysophospholipid. READ MORE
