  1. 1. Towards consonance in working conditions, health and performance aboard high-performance marine craft

    Author : Manudul Pahansen de Alwis; Karl Garme; Anders Rosén; Stephen Myers; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-speed craft; human factors; whole-body vibration; epidemiology; pain; fatigue; höghastighetsfartyg; mänskliga faktorn; helkroppsvibrationer; epidemiologi; smärta; trötthet; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : The High-Performance Marine Craft (HPMC) is a complex man-machine system dealing with the stochastic nature of the sea. The occupants of these craft are challenged by the strenuous work environments resulting in various detrimental conditions and reducing the overall performance of the system. READ MORE

  2. 2. Safe Intersection and Merging Coordination of Connected and Automated Vehicles

    Author : Xiao Chen; Jonas Mårtensson; Björn Olofsson; KTH; []

  4. 4. Development and evaluation of an independent system for absorbed dose calculations in radiotherapy

    Author : Stefan Johnsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; tomography; medical instrumentation; radiology; Clinical physics; cancer; Cytologi; onkologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; PDA; mini-phantom; in-air equivalence; primary kerma; transmission measurement; stopping power ratio; entrance dose; beam quality; quality control; error prevention; monitor unit calculation; radiation therapy; dose calculation;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to develop, implement and evaluate an independent system with which to calculate the absorbed dose, delivered by high-energy X-ray beams, to the prescription point and the depth of dose maximum. The introduction of such a system in the clinical routine may help ensure high-quality treatment and avoidance of errors which may jeopardise the clinical outcome of the treatment (i. READ MORE

  5. 5. Role of TLR4 in Escherichia coli urinary tract infection

    Author : Patrik Samuelsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []

    Abstract : In this thesis we have used P fimbriated E. coli as a model to investigate the mechanisms of bacterial recognition and cell activation by the urinary tract (UT) epithelium. We show that Toll like receptor 4 (TLR4) is crucial for the recognition and host response to P fimbriated E. coli. READ MORE
