  2. 2. Electrochemical machining: towards 3D simulation and application on SS316

    Author : A. A. Gomez-Gallegos; UK University of Edinburgh; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrochemical machining; 3D Simulation; FEM; stainless Steel 316; surface Finish; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Abstract : Electrochemical machining (ECM) is a non-conventional manufacturing process, which uses electrochemical dissolution to shape any conductive metal regardless of its mechanical properties and without leaving behind residual stresses or tool wear. Therefore, ECM can be an alternative for machining difficult-to-cut materials, complex geometries, and materials with improved characteristics, such as strength, heat-resistance or corrosion-resistance. 3. 3. Towards Gap Waveguide Array Antenna for Millimeter Wave Applications

    Author : Abbas Vosoogh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gap waveguide; Electric Discharge Machining EDM ; Artificial Magnetic Conductor AMC ; slot array antenna; low sidelobe; high effciency; millimeter wave; aperture efficiency; Bandpass filter BPF ;

    Abstract : The millimeter wave frequency range has got a lot of attention over the past few years because it contains unused frequency spectrum resources that are suitable for delivering Gbit/s end-user access in areas with high user density. Due to the limited output power that current RF active components can deliver in millimeter waves, antennas with the merits of low profile, high gain, high effciency and low cost are needed to compensate free space path loss and increase the communication distance for the emerging high data rate wireless systems. 4. 4. On the Machining of Involute Helical Gears - Prediction models on tool geometry, cut gear tooth surface topography, chip geometry, and tool cutting forces

    Author : Mattias Svahn; Maskinelement; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gear hobbing; Gear milling; Chip geometry; Cutting forces; Surface topography; Tool wear;

    Abstract : The modern requirements on power transmissions focus on energy efficiency, low noise and dynamic vibrations, and power density. In order to meet these requirements, the gear wheels must be manufactured to very high precision. Additionally, it should be economical to manufacture these gears within the tight requested tolerances. READ MORE

  5. 5. Focused Ion Beam Preparation and Transmission Electron Microscopy of Materials for Energy Applications

    Author : Filip Lenrick; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transmission electron microscopy; focused ion beam; solid oxide materials; fuel cell; semiconductor materials; nanowire; LED; solar cell;

    Abstract : Throughout this thesis, samples of various materials with applications in energy converting devices have been prepared by focused ion beam machining and investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Energy converting devices can be solar cells or light emitting diodes, which turn light into electricity or vice versa. READ MORE
