2. Compression-moulded and multifunctional cellulose network materials
Abstract : Cellulose-based materials are widely used in a number of important applications (e.g. paper, wood, textiles). Additional developments are suggested by the growing interest for natural fibre-based composite and nanocomposite materials. READ MORE

3. Understanding overlooked molecular interactions in the cellulose/NaOH(aq) system
Abstract : The cold NaOH(aq) system is a promising process for the production of textile fibres. Although the process has been studied for almost a century, there remain unsolved research issues, especially regarding the dissolution mechanism. READ MORE

4. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems
Abstract : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 5. Crystalline cellulose in bulk and at interfaces as studied by atomistic computer simulations
Abstract : Cellulose is a linear polysaccharide, serving as reinforcement in plant cell walls.Understanding its structure and properties is of importance in the developmentof nanostructured cellulose materials. READ MORE
