6. Microstructure and liquid mass transport control in nanocomposite materials
Abstract : Some of the biggest problems currently facing the world are closely tied to unsolved technological challenges in the material sciences. Many materials have a porous microstructure that controls their overall properties. READ MORE

7. NMR diffusion studies on lyotropic liquid crystalline systems
Abstract : The pulsed field gradient fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-FTNMR) method to measure translational diffusion coefficients in multicomponent systems has been applied to amphiphilic molecules forming liquid crystalline phases.By analyzing the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficients of water and amphiphile in a micellar system of N,N-dimethyldodecy lamine oxide (DDAO) in water it was possible to conclude that the micelles formed were polydisperse in size and shape. 8. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems
Abstract : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 9. Mass Transport Properties in Supramolecular Systems Studied by Diffusion and Relaxation NMR
Abstract : This thesis shows how diffusion and relaxation NMR can be applied in various aspects to study mass transport in supramolecular systems. Information about these systems can be obtained, either by direct measurement of the molecules that are incorporated in a supramolecular structure, or via probe molecules, which indirectly gives information about the system. 10. Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging of the brain : Tractography analysis with application in healthy individuals and patients
Abstract : In study 1, thirty-eight healthy controls were used for optimization of the method. Fifteen patients with progressive supranuclear palsy and an equal number of age-matched healthy controls underwent diffusion tensor MRI and were then investigated and compared groupwise. READ MORE
