  1. 26. Excitonic Effects and Energy Upconversion in Bulk and Nanostructured ZnO

    Author : Shula Chen; Irina Buyanova; Weimin Chen; Detlev M. Hofmann; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Zinc Oxide (ZnO), a II-VI wurtzite semiconductor, has been drawing enormous research interest for decades as an electronic material for numerous applications. It has a wide and direct band gap of 3.37eV and a large exciton binding energy of 60 meV that leads to intense free exciton (FX) emission at room temperature. READ MORE

  2. 27. Bayesian Inference for Microwave Diagnostics at Joint European Torus

    Author : Stefan Schmuck; Per Brunsell; Thomas Jonsson; Jakob Svensson; Laurie Porte; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ECE; Bayesian; Fourier transform; spectroscopy; joint inference; length-scale; Gaussian process; microwave diagnostic; JET; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The major goal of this thesis is to perform Bayesian inference jointly for electron kinetic profiles, a toroidal magnetic field correction, diagnostic sensitivities, and wall reflection properties given noisy measurements of four microwave diagnostics at the tokamak JET. Besides the measurements, this kind of inference considers prior knowledge, like profile length-scales, to update objectively the information about the physics parameters. READ MORE

  3. 28. Electron and Spin Transport in Graphene-Based Nanodevices

    Author : Xiao-Fei LI; Yi Luo; Rajeev Ahuja; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the multi-scale modeling of electron and spin transport in graphene-based nanodevices. Several devices with fascinating structures and attractive properties have been designed by means of state-of-the-art computational methods, which include ab-initio molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for the geometry, density functional theory (DFT) for the electronic structure, and non-equilibrium Green’s functions (NEGF) for carriers transport properties. 4. 29. Magnetooptical properties of dilute nitride nanowires

    Author : Mattias Jansson; Irina A Buyanova; Weimin Chen; Jan Eric Stehr; Hannah Joyce; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Nanostructured III-V semiconductors have emerged as one of the most promising materials systems for future optoelectronic applications. While planar III-V compounds are already at the center of the ongoing lighting revolution, where older light sources are replaced by modern white light LEDs, fabricating such materials in novel architectures, such as nanowires and quantum dots, creates new possibilities for optoelectronic applications.
