    Author : Sergey Manuilov; Alex Grishin; Boris Kalinikos; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ferromagnetic resonance; magnetic anisotropy; single-ion anisotropy model; ferrites; magnetic epitaxial films; magnetostatic waves; pulsed laser deposition; magnetic alloys; domains; domain wall transformations;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses two different magnetic materials: epitaxial yttrium iron garnet (YIG) and heteromorphous CoFeB-SiO2 films. YIG films were grown by pulse laser deposition (PLD) techniques onto gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG) substrates of (111) and (001) crystal orientations. READ MORE

    Abstract : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Importance of Controlling Composition to Tailor the Properties of Magnetic Thin Films

    Author : Andreas Frisk; Gabriella Andersson; Tomas Nyberg; Erik Johansson; Sarah Thompson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Many physical properties, for example structural or magnetic, of a material are directly dependent on elemental composition. Tailoring of properties through highly accurate composition control is possible in thin films. This work exemplifies such tailoring. READ MORE

  5. 5. Control of Defects and Subgrains in Epitaxial Perovskite Thin Films

    Author : Lars Ryen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : This work concerns the microstructure of epitaxial (001) perovskite thin films, studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), in particular high resolution TEM, electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), and energy dispersive x-ray analysis. The perovskites exhibit interesting superconducting, dielectric, and magnetic properties. READ MORE
