11. Ferromagnetic Resonance as a Probe of Magnetization Dynamics : A Study of FeCo Thin Films and Trilayers
Abstract : The high frequency dynamic magnetic responses of FeCo thin films and structures have been investigated mainly using ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) technique. The FMR resonance condition and linewidth are first derived from the dynamic Landau- Lifshitz-Gilbert equation, followed by a study of the conversion between FMR field and frequency linewidths. 12. A Play of Light and Spins: Excitation and Detection of Non-linear Magnetization Dynamics using Light
Abstract : The excitation and detection of magnetization dynamics play key roles in the field of spintronics and magnonics. In this thesis, we investigate a contactless method of exciting nonlinear magnetization dynamics using a femtosecond pulsed laser, and study the same with a Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) microscope. 13. Electromagnetic transformer modelling including the ferromagnetic core
Abstract : In order to design a power transformer it is important to understand its internal electromagnetic behaviour. That can be obtained by measurements on physical transformers, analytical expressions and computer simulations. READ MORE

14. First-principles theory of electrically-induced spin and orbital magnetization
Abstract : Spin-orbit torques (SOTs) have emerged recently as practical tools to control the magnetization in spintronic devices, but it is debated what the underlying fundamental processes are that enable fast and energy-efficient magnetization switching. In this thesis, we investigate theoretically possible means of controlling magnetization in magnetic materials and heterostructures. 15. Terahertz spin dynamics in metallic thin film ferromagnets
Abstract : The past two decades have witnessed an increasing interest in understanding and controlling materials at the pico- and femtosecond time scales, the so-called ultrafast regime. Among the broad field of condensed matter physics, magnetism and magnetic materials have attracted much interest both from a fundamental and an applied perspective. READ MORE
