  1. 1. Magneto-sensitive rubber in the audible frequency range

    Author : Peter Blom; Leif Kari; Luigi Bregant; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magneto-sensitivity; Rubber; Audible frequency range; Amplitude dependence; Vibration isolator; Fletcher-Gent effect; Stiffness; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Abstract : The dynamic behaviour in the audible frequency range of magneto-sensitive (MS) rubber is the focus of this thesis consisting of five papers A-E. Paper A presents results drawn from experiments on samples subjected to different constant shear strains over varying frequencies and magnetic fields. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring the vibration control potential of magneto-sensitive rubber

    Author : Peter Blom; Leif Kari; James Busfield; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; magneto-sensitive rubber; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Two new aspects of the dynamic behaviour in the audible frequency range of magneto-sensitive (MS) rubber are highlighted: the existence of an amplitude dependence of the shear modulus—referred to as the Fletcher–Gent effect—for even small displacements, and the appearance of large MS effects. These results have been obtained experimentally and are subsequently used to model two examples of magneto-sensitive rubber isolators to show how by means of MS rubber they can be improved. 3. 3. New Bioanalytical Approaches, Magneto Immunoassays and SIRE Technology Based Biosensors

    Author : Kirstin Kriz; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; antigens; superparamagnetic nanoparticles; magnetic inductance transducer; competitive magneto immunoassay; enzymes; metabolites; differential measurements; SIRE; biosensor;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two new technologies, SIRE technology based biosensors and magneto immunoassays, which can be used for bioanalytical applications. One of the main problems associated with biosensor technology is the instability of the recognition element since it is of biological origin and thus, has a limited lifetime. READ MORE

  4. 4. Magneto-sensitive elastomers in vibration isolation

    Author : Ane Alberdi-Muniain; Leif Kari; N Gil-Negrete; Luigi Bregant; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Järnvägsgruppen - Effektiva tågsystem för godstrafik; Järnvägsgruppen - Effektiva tågsystem för godstrafik;

    Abstract : Vibration isolators made of rubber are used in numerous engineeringapplications to isolate structures from undesirable effects of vibrations.However, once a vibration isolator is installed in an application, it is not possible to modify its characteristics to adjust to changing conditions.
