  1. 1. Spectrally Selective Solar Absorbing Coatings Prepared by dc Magnetron Sputtering

    Author : Shuxi Zhao; Ewa Wäckelgård; Carl-Gustaf Ribbing; Volker Wittwer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; spectrally selective surface; solar energy; magnetron sputtering; thin film; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Spectrally selective solar absorber using composite Ni-NiO as coating materials was studied. Samples were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering unit named Rulle, which is a miniature copy of an industrial roll-coater unit. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fundamentals of High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering

    Author : Johan Böhlmark; Ulf Helmersson; André Anders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Plasma; Pulsed plasma; High Power Pulsed Magnetron Sputtering; Plasma Characterization; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : In plasma assisted thin film growth, control over the energy and direction of the incoming species is desired. If the growth species are ionized this can be achieved by the use of a substrate bias or a magnetic field. Ions may be accelerated by an applied potential, whereas neutral particles may not. 3. 3. Low-friction and wear-resistant carbon nitride coatings for bearing components grown by magnetron sputtering

    Author : Konstantinos Bakoglidis; Grzegorz Greczynski; Lars Hultman; Susann Schmidt; Witold Gulbinski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Carbon nitride; magnetron sputtering; physical vapor deposition; coatings; bearings; rolling contact fatigue; adhesion; friction; wear; transmission electron microscopy; scanning electron microscopy; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; coatings tribology; nanotribology;

    Abstract : The scope of this thesis is the investigation of magnetron sputtered carbon nitride coatings suitable for roller bearing components. The research field of tribology of bearings focuses on minimizing friction between components by improving the lubricants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sputtering and Characterization of Complex Multi-element Coatings

    Author : Erik Särhammar; Tomas Nyberg; Ulf Jansson; Urban Wiklund; Gustaf Sjöblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thin film; coating; magnetron sputtering; modelling; tribofilm; tungsten disulphide;

    Abstract : The thin film technology is of great importance in modern society and is a key technology in wide spread applications from electronics and solar cells to hard protective coatings on cutting tools and diffusion barriers in food packaging. This thesis deals with various aspects of thin film processing and the aim of the work is twofold; firstly, to obtain a fundamental understanding of the sputter deposition and the reactive sputter deposition processes, and secondly, to evaluate sputter deposition of specific material systems with low friction properties and to improve their performance. 5. 5. Synthesis and Characterisation of Magnetron Sputtered Alumina-Zirconia Thin Films

    Author : David Huy Trinh; Hans Högberg; Anders Hårsta; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Alumina; Zirconia; NaKeywords: Alumina; Zirconia; Nanocomposite; Sputtering; Thin-Film; PVD; TEM; EELS; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Alumina-Zirconia thin films were grown on a range of substrates using dual magnetron sputtering. Film growth was achieved at a relatively low temperature of 450 °C and at higher temperatures up to 810 °C. The films were grown on well-defined surfaces such as silicon (100) but also on industrially relevant substrates such as hardmetal (WC-Co). READ MORE
