  1. 6. Synthesis and Characterisation of Magnetron Sputtered Alumina-Zirconia Thin Films

    Author : David Huy Trinh; Hans Högberg; Anders Hårsta; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alumina; Zirconia; NaKeywords: Alumina; Zirconia; Nanocomposite; Sputtering; Thin-Film; PVD; TEM; EELS; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Alumina-Zirconia thin films were grown on a range of substrates using dual magnetron sputtering. Film growth was achieved at a relatively low temperature of 450 °C and at higher temperatures up to 810 °C. The films were grown on well-defined surfaces such as silicon (100) but also on industrially relevant substrates such as hardmetal (WC-Co). READ MORE

  2. 7. Investigations of the corrosion resistances of magnetron sputtered multicomponent materials : A study on high entropy alloys, high entropy sublattice ceramics, and metallic glasses

    Author : Aishwarya Srinath; Leif Nyholm; Ulf Jansson; Rebecka Lindblad; Bernard Normand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Corrosion resistance; high entropy alloys; magnetron sputtering; thin films; protective coatings;

    Abstract : The corrosion resistances of sputter deposited AlCrNbYZrN, CrNbTiTaWC and TaNiSiC alloys were assessed in acidic and alkaline environments. Compositionally complex alloying strategies, and whether they produced coatings with superior corrosion resistances, were explored. READ MORE

  3. 8. Modeling High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering Discharges

    Author : Chunqing Huo; Nils Brenning; Svetlana Ratynskaia; James Bradley; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : HiPIMS, high power impulse magnetron sputtering, is a promising technology that has attracted a lot of attention ever since its appearance. A time-dependent plasma discharge model has been developed for the ionization region in HiPIMS discharges. READ MORE

  4. 9. Development and tribological characterisation of magnetron sputtered TiB2 and Cr/CrN coatings

    Author : Mattias Berger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; TiB2; Tribology; Magnetron Sputtering; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop wear resistant physical vapour deposited coatings of TiB2 as well as multilayers of Cr/CrN. The correlation between deposition parameters and fundamental coating properties such as microstructure, composition, residual stress and hardness has been investigated. READ MORE

  5. 10. Alumina Thin Films : From Computer Calculations to Cutting Tools

    Author : Erik Wallin; Ulf Helmersson; Patrick Desjardins; Linköpings universitet; []
