  1. 16. On Error-Controlled Numerical Model Reduction for Linear Transient FE² Analysis

    Author : Fredrik Ekre; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; computational homogenization; error estimation; model reduction;

    Abstract : Multiscale modeling is of high interest in the engineering community due to its ability to capture the overall response, while still accounting for processes and structures on underlying fine scales. One standard approach to multiscale modeling is the so-called FE² procedure, where the classic constitutive relation is replaced by a boundary value problem on a Representative Volume Element (RVE) comprising the underlying microscale features. 2. 17. Numerical Model Reduction and Error Control for Computational Homogenization of Transient Problems

    Author : Fredrik Ekre; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model reduction; error estimation; computational homogenization;

    Abstract : Multiscale modeling is a class of methods useful for numerical simulation of mechanics, in particular, when the microstructure of a material is of importance. The main advantage is the ability to capture the overall response, and, at the same time, account for processes and structures on the underlying fine scales. READ MORE

  3. 18. Channel Related Optimization of Wireless Communication Systems

    Author : Fredrik Tufvesson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; time division duplex; multicarrier; Radio communication; orthogonal frequency division multiplex; channel estimation; pilot symbol assisted modulation; sub-channel spacing; sub-channel bandwidth; interchannel interference; cyclic prefix; intersymbol interference; Rayleigh fading; precoding; pre-compensation;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with different optimization problems in the design of wireless communication systems. It is mainly directed to the design of systems based on multicarrier techniques and orthogonal frequency division multiplex, OFDM, but some of the problems apply to single carrier systems as well. 5. 20. Massive Multi-Antenna Communications with Low-Resolution Data Converters

    Author : Sven Jacobsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing; channel estimation; quantization; linear precoding; convex optimization; nonlinear precoding; linear combing; hardware impairments; analog-to-digital converter; beamforming; Massive multi-user multiple-input multiple-output; digital-to-analog converter;

    Abstract : Massive multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) will be a core technology in future cellular communication systems. In massive MU-MIMO systems, the number of antennas at the base station (BS) is scaled up by several orders of magnitude compared to traditional multi-antenna systems with the goals of enabling large gains in capacity and energy efficiency.
