  1. 1. Temporomandibular joint disk displacement and subsequent adverse mandibular growth : a radiographic, histologic and biomolecular experimental study

    Author : Fredrik Bryndahl; Annika Isberg; Lars Eriksson; Lars G Hollender; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; adverse growth; condylar cartilage; subchondral bone; TMJ; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : The mandibular condyles represent important growth sites within the facial skeleton. Condylar growth is not a pacemaker of mandibular development, but it provides regional adaptive growth that is of considerable clinical significance, as the condyle’s upward and backward growth movement regulates the anteriorly and inferiorly directed displacement of the mandible as a whole. 2. 2. On costochondral grafts replacing mandibular condyles in juvenile chronic arthritis. A clinical, histological and experimental study

    Author : Börje Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; juvenile chronic arthritis; temporomandibular joints; temporomandibular disorders; costochondral grafts; growth; revascularisation; microangiography; fluorochrome labelling.;

    Abstract : In children with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA), disturbances of mandibular growth and function may result in involvement of the temporomandibular joints (TMJs). The aim of this thesis was to study the stomatognathic system in JCA children and long-term effects on facial growth of treatment comprising replacement of arthritic mandibular condyles with autogenous costochondral grafts (CCGs) during growth. 3. 3. Sequelae after Facial Palsy : Clinical, Anatomical and Electrophysiological Studies

    Author : David Jensson; Andres Rodriguez-Lorenzo; Lars Jonsson; Göran Laurell; Sinikka Suominen; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Background: Sequelae after peripheral facial palsy, which among others include synkinesis, non-functional smile and/or lower lip asymmetry, may be devastating for the patient. Bell’s palsy is the most common form of peripheral facial palsy. READ MORE

  4. 4. Correction of unilateral posterior crossbite in the mixed dentition : studies of treatment effects, stability and cost-effectiveness

    Abstract : Enkelsidigt korsbett är en av de vanligaste bettavvikelserna i växel-bettet, dvs. i de åldrar då barnets tänder byts ut från mjölktänder till permanenta tänder. Korsbett innebär att överkäkens och un-derkäkens bredd inte passar ihop när man biter samman käkarna. READ MORE
