  1. 1. Influence of postoperative treatment, surface treatment and stem design on the outcome of primary total hip arthroplasty

    Author : Truike Thien; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Primary total hip arthroplasty; anteverted stem; stem design; cemented and cementless fixation; radiostereometry; bone mineral density; clinical outcome;

    Abstract : Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of postoperative treatment, surface treatment and stem design on the outcome of primary Total Hip Arthroplasty. The main intention was to study anteverted femoral stems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Strain quantifications in different tectonic scales using numerical modelling

    Author : Lukas Fuchs; Hemin Koyi; Susanne Buiter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Deformation modelling; progressive and finite deformation; salt tectonics; down-built diapir; upper mantle; lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary; seismic anisotropy; plate-mantle de coupling; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on calculation of finite and progressive deformation in different tectonic scales using 2D numerical models with application to natural cases. Essentially, two major tectonic areas have been covered: a) salt tectonics and b) upper mantle deformation due to interaction between the lithosphere and asthenosphere. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Molecular Dissection of Mantle Cell Lymphoma - From gene expression analysis to functional evaluation of selected targets

    Author : Venera Kuci; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; side population; deoxycytidine kinase; resistance; SOX11; mantle cell lymphoma;

    Abstract : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive form of B-cell lymphoma (BCL) with poor clinical outcome. In this thesis, which is based upon five original papers, different approaches have been used to pinpoint and investigate molecular events that promote MCL tumor growth, progression or resistance to treatment. 4. 4. Generation of midbrain dopaminergic neurons in vivo and in vitro: the role of Neurogenin2

    Author : Elin Andersson; Neurobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; cell replacement; Parkinson?s; dopamine; neuronal specification; development; mesencephalon; TH; neuronal differentiation; proneural genes; transcription factors; bHLH; neurospheres; stem cell; progenitor cell;

    Abstract : Parkinsons disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder where dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra (SNc) in the mesencephalon are progressively eliminated. The ensuing loss of dopaminergic innervation of the basal ganglia manifests itself as severe motor deficits in PD patients. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hip revisions with impacted morselized allograft bone and cement. Patient outcome, prosthetic fixation and risks

    Author : Ewald Ornstein; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiostereometry; NHP; patient outcome; cement; allograft; morselized; impacted; bone transplantation; hip; Arthroplasty; revision; complications; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : 144 consecutive hip revisions performed with morselized allograft bone and cement were followed up to 5 years after surgery. In 49 hips patient outcome was evaluated with the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) questionnaire and Charnley hip scores in 47 hips prosthetic fixation was evaluated with radiostereometry (RSA)and in all 144 hips risks and complications were recorded using a prspective protocol.
