  1. 21. Structural and Functional Aspects of β1 Integrin Signalling

    Author : Stina Nilsson; Staffan Johansson; Teet Velling; Maria Fällman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Cell and molecular biology; Integrin; Integrin subunit β1; Integrin activation; Threonine; Phosphorylation; Integrin signalling; FAK; PI3K; MAPK; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Integrins are transmembrane glycoproteins primarily mediating interactions of cells with the extracellular matrix. Each receptor is a complex of one α- and one β-subunit with affinity for a diverse set of ligands. READ MORE

  2. 22. Signaling determinants in Trojan horse-mediated dissemination of Toxoplasma gondii

    Author : Einar B. Ólafsson; Antonio Barragan; Eva Frickel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Apicomplexa; leukocyte motility; dendritic cell; amoeboid migration; host-parasite interactions; podosome; integrin; ITGB1; ECM; MAT; TIMP; MMP; MAPK; Erk; RTK; HGFR; Ras; calcium; VDCC; VGCC; calmodulin; CaMkII; CD63; FAK; SRC; Pi3k; hypermigration; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that infects all warm-blooded vertebrates including one third of the global human population. While infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy human hosts, reactivated and acute infection in immunosuppressed or immunecompromised individuals can lead to lethal toxoplasmic encephalitis After ingestion, the parasite crosses the intestinal epithelium and rapidly achieves systemic dissemination, ultimately establishing chronic infection in the brain. 3. 23. RAS-MAPK syndromes - a Clinical and Molecular Investigation

    Author : Anna-Maja Nyström; Marie-Louise Bondeson; Göran Annerén; Anna Wedell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RAS-MAPK syndromes; Noonan syndrome; Neurofibromatosis type I; cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome; mutation; multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification; gene; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Klinisk genetik; Clinical Genetics;

    Abstract : The RAS-MAPK syndromes are a group of clinically and genetically related disorders, characterized by cardiac defects, facial dysmorphism, cutaneous abnormalities and neurocognitive impairment. The pathogenesis is dysregulation of the RAS-MAPK pathway, and several genes within the pathway are involved. READ MORE

  4. 24. Signal Transduction in Focal Cerebral Ischemia : Experimental Studies on VEGF, MAPK and Src family kinases

    Author : Fredrik Lennmyr; Andreas Terént; Tommy Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicin; Medicine;

    Abstract : Cerebral ischemia elicits a wide range of events, including complex activation of various intracellular signaling pathways. This study aims to investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the activation pattern of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) in reponse to focal cerebral ischemia. 5. 25. Prognostic Biomarkers and Target Proteins for Treatment of High-grade Gliomas

    Author : Linda Sooman; Simon Ekman; Johan Lennartsson; Joachim Gullbo; Michael Bergqvist; Erik Blomquist; Stefan Bergström; Beatrice Melin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; High-grade glioma; prognostic biomarkers; combination chemotherapy; DNA methylation; FGF2; p38 MAPK; PTPN6; camptothecin; imatinib; vandetanib; EGFR; RAC1; Notch; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : The survival for high-grade glioma patients is poor and the treatment may cause severe side effects. A common obstacle in the treatment is chemoresistance. To improve the quality of life and prolong survival for these patients prognostic biomarkers and new approaches for chemotherapy are needed. READ MORE
