16. The actinorhizal symbiosis of Datisca glomerata: Search for nodule-specific marker genes
Abstract : The actinorhizal symbiosis is entered by nitrogen-fixing actinobacteria of the genus Frankia and a large group of woody plant species distributed among eight dicot families. The actinorhizal symbiosis, as well as the legume-rhizobia symbiosis, involves the stable intracellular accommodation of the microsymbionts in special organs called root nodules. READ MORE

17. Ovarian cancer : Treatment results, prognostic factors, and tumor marker surveillance
Abstract : The total population-based material of 426 ovarian malignancies in the Southeast Health Care Region of Sweden during 1984-1987 was surveyed. It seems that with a program of cytoreductive surgery followed by a cisplatinum chemotherapy combination in the metastasizing cases the overall survival figures have improved. READ MORE

18. Neurofilament light as a marker for neurodegenerative diseases
Abstract : Neurofilaments are the main cytoskeletal constituents in neuronal cells. They are belived to be important for maintaining the structural integrity and calibre of axons and dendrites thereby influencing the conduction velocity of nerve impulses. READ MORE

19. Nitric oxide : a surrogate marker of bowel inflammation
Abstract : The gas nitric oxide (NO) is a pluripotent biological messenger involved in numerous physiological and pathological processes in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In the intestinal mucosa NO is synthesized from the amino acid L-arginine via a reaction catalyzed by NO synthase (NOS). READ MORE

20. Mass spectrometry in peptide and tumor marker analysis
Abstract : Integration of preparative protein and peptide separations with analytical techniques, in particular mass spectrometry (MS), is important. This thesis describes preparation via capillary electrophoresis and two-dimensional (2-D) gel electrophoresis for identification and structure determination of polypeptides. READ MORE
