16. Selected Topics in Inertial and Visual Sensor Fusion : Calibration, Observability Analysis and Applications
Abstract : Recent improvements in the development of inertial and visual sensors allow building small, lightweight, and cheap motion capture systems, which are becoming a standard feature of smartphones and personal digital assistants. This dissertation describes developments of new motion sensing strategies using the inertial and inertial-visual sensors. READ MORE

17. KPI framework for maintenance management through eMaintenance : Development, implementation, assessment, and optimization
Abstract : Performance measurement is critical if any organization wants to thrive. The motivation for the thesis originated from the project “Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for control and management of maintenance process through eMaintenance (in Swedish: Nyckeltal för styrning och uppföljning av underhållsverksamhet m h a eUnderhåll)”, initiated and financed by a mining company in Sweden. 18. Design and Performance Analysis of Wireless Networked Control Systems
Abstract : Networked control systems (NCSs) are distributed systems that use shared communication networks to exchange information between system components such as sensors, controllers and actuators. The networked control system architecture promises advantages in terms of increased flexibility, reduced wiring and lower maintenance costs, and is finding its way into a wide variety of applications, ranging from automobiles and automated highway systems to process control, and power distribution systems. 20. Spatial Spread of Organisms : Modeling ecological and epidemiological processes
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the spread of organisms in both ecological and epidemiological contexts. In most of the studies presented, displacement is modeled with a spatial kernel function, which is characterized by scale and shape. These are measured by the net squared displacement (or kernel variance) and kurtosis, respectively. READ MORE
