    Abstract : This dissertation examines mission museums established by Catholic mission congregations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland from the 1890s onwards. The aim is to provide the first extensive study on these museums in a way that contributes to current blind spots in mission history, and the history of anthropology and museology. READ MORE

  2. 2. Masking Moments : The Transitions of Bodies and Beings in Late Iron Age Scandinavia

    Author : Ing-Marie Back Danielsson; Bo Petré; Julian Thomas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Masking practices; masks; transitions; Iron Age; Scandinavia; kuml; body; metaphorical thinking; miniaturization; queer theory; feminism; sex; gender; personhood; rune stones; gold foil figures; oral literacy; food preparation; burials; Archaeology; North European; Arkeologi; nordeuropeisk; arkeologi; Archaeology;

    Abstract : This thesis explores bodily representations in Late Iron Age Scandinavia (400–1050 AD). Non-human bodies, such as gold foil figures, and human bodies are analysed. The work starts with an examination and deconstruction of the sex/gender categories to the effect that they are considered to be of minor value for the purposes of the thesis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Performing Power : The Political Masks of King Gustav III of Sweden (1771-1792)

  4. 4. Nanopatterning by Swift Heavy Ions

    Author : Marek Skupinski; Klas Hjört; Jens Jensen; Christina Trautmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; swift heavy ions; lithography; nanopatterning; self-assembly; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Today, the dominating way of patterning nanosystems is by irradiation-based lithography (e-beam, DUV, EUV, and ions). Compared to the other irradiations, ion tracks created by swift heavy ions in matter give the highest contrast, and its inelastic scattering facilitate minute widening and high aspect ratios (up to several thousands). 5. 5. Fabrication of Low-Dimensional Structures in III-V Semiconductors

    Author : Ivan Maximov; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; III-V semiconductors; plasma; etching; aerosol; lithography; quantum dots; quantum well wires; quantum point contact; damage; luminescence; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Maximov; Halvledarfysik; Semiconductory physics;

    Abstract : The thesis presents studies on the processing technology and the characterization of nanometer-sized and low-dimensional structures in III-V semiconductors. Two major approaches are described: 1) the combination of aerosol technology and plasma etching for the fabrication of quantum dots (QDs) in InP-based materials and 2) the use of high-resolution electron beam lithography and plasma or wet chemical etching to make quantum well wires (QWWs) in both GaAs and InP-based structures.
