21. Mechanisms of inter-organ crosstalk mediated by tryptophan metabolism
Abstract : Physical exercise and nutrition balance the “energy in-energy out” equilibrium that keeps the system at a dynamic homeostasis, energetically speaking. However, this is a simplistic vision of a dynamic system that is in a constant fine-tuning of all of its parts. READ MORE

22. Determination of the overall haemostasis potential and fibrin gel permeability : method development and application in research and in clinical materials
Abstract : We have previously developed a laboratory method that may screen the Overall Haemostasis Potential (OHP) in plasma based on spectophotometric measurement of an area under the fibrin aggregation curve in citrated plasma samples to which tiny amounts of exogenous thrombin and tissue-plasminogen activator (t-PA) are added. When the fibrin aggregation curve is created, the fibrinogen originally present in plasma is gradually converted to fibrin by the generated thrombin. READ MORE

23. Down syndrome : Growth and endocrine impact
Abstract : Down syndrome (DS) is associated with psychomotor retardation, short stature and endocrine dysfunction. Statural growth is a well-known indicator of health. The growth in DS differs markedly from that of other children and there is a 20 cm reduction of final height as compared to target height. READ MORE

24. Protecting food with poison : Exploring ecotoxicity of agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals
Abstract : Chemicals are being emitted into the environment through human activities, such as agriculture or animal husbandry. Emissions can either occur intentionally, as pesticide application of crops, or inadvertently, such as pharmaceutical residues in wastewater effluents. READ MORE

25. Modeling and control of actuators and co-surge in turbocharged engines
Abstract : The torque response of the engine is important for the driving experience of a vehicle. In spark ignited engines, torque is proportional to the air flow into the cylinders. Controlling torque therefore implies controlling air flow. READ MORE
