  1. 1. Applications of Solid-Phase Microextraction to Chemical Characterization of Materials Used in Road Construction

    Author : Bing Tang; Ulf Isacsson; Xiaohu Lu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asphalt release agents; Petroleum oils; Vegetable oils; Bituminous sealants; Bitumen; Emissions; Monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy - Attenuated Total Reflectance; Gel Permeation Chromatography; Mass Spectrometry; Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry; Thermogravimetric Analysis; Headspace; Solid-phase microextraction; Calibration.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : Environmental and health aspects of road materials have been discussed for a long time, mostly regarding bitumen and bitumen fumes. However, just a few studies on other types of road materials have been reported. READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis of complex organics via molecular growth mechanisms : Combined experimental and theoretical studies on ion-neutral reactions of C2H2N+ with ubiquitous hydrocarbons in Titan's ionosphere

    Author : Pantea Fathi; Wolf Geppert; Paul Scheier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrochemistry; Complex molecules; Ion-neutral reactions; Mass spectrometry; Planetary and satellite atmospheres; Titan; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : To provide insights on the molecular growth mechanisms leading to large carbon and nitrogen-bearing species in Titan’s ionosphere, laboratory measurements of ion-neutral reactions were conducted and the results are presented in the following doctoral dissertation. The product ions of the C2H2N+ reactions with saturated and unsaturated neutral hydrocarbons have been investigated using Guided Ion Beam Mass Spectrometer (GIB-MS). READ MORE

  3. 3. Alkylate Petrol. Environmental Aspects of Volatile Hydrocarbon Emissions

    Author : Ulf Östermark; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrocarbons; small engines; alkylate; alkenes; ethene; benzene; 3-butadiene; two-stroke engines; reformulated petrol; reformulated gasoline; 1;

    Abstract : All hydrocarbons emitted from production and use of petrol are hazardous to human health and the environment, but to a different extent for individual compounds. This thesis compares and characterizes C2-C8 hydrocarbons related to alkylate petrol and conventional petrol. READ MORE

    Abstract : The proton exchange membrane fuel cell generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen (from air) through electrocatalytic reactions in an electrochemical cell. The Pt/C catalyst, commonly used in PEM fuel cells, is very sensitive to impurities that can interact with the active catalyst sites and limit fuel cell performance. READ MORE
