  1. 1. Heat and Mass Transfer in Impingement Cooking. Aspects of Food Quality

    Author : Urban Wählby; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cooking; impingement; meat; mass transfer; buns; food quality; heat transfer;

    Abstract : Hot air impingement is a special form of forced convection, where the air is focused through the use of nozzles at a surface. In combination with rather high air velocities, a jet like phenomenon can evolve, which when used in for example cooking can achieve high heat transfer capacities. An Impingement oven prototype was constructed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mass Loss of Evolved Stars : Improving Mass-Loss Rates and Distances

    Author : Miora Andriantsaralaza; Paul Barklem; Elvire De Beck; Susanne Höfner; Jacco van Loon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; AGB stars; Mass loss; Distance; Circumstellar matter; Radio interferometry; Stellar evolution; Fysik med inriktning mot astrofysik; Physics with specialization in Astrophysics;

    Abstract : In the final stages of their lives, low to intermediate-mass stars enter the Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) phase, where they experience significant mass loss through dusty stellar winds. This mass loss is pivotal, not only for the chemical enrichment of the interstellar medium, setting the stage for new stars and planets to form, but also in dictating the evolution and the ultimate fate of the stars themselves. 4. 4. Heat and Mass Transfer to a Single Particle in Fluidized Bed

    Author : Gennadij I. Palconok; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mass transfer; turbulence; circulating fluidized beds; active particle; bubbling; heat; combustion; devolatilization;

    Abstract : Heat and mass transfer to/from a single active particle in bubbling and circulating fluidized beds have been studied with application to fluidized bed combustion. A method of calculation of the heat and mass transfer coefficients in a bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) has been developed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Catalytic Converters for Automotive Exhaust Applications. Flow Dynamics, Mass Transfer and Optimization

    Author : Fredrik Ekström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TWC; optimization; exhaust; laboratory reactors; catalytic converter; catalysis; pressure drop; entrance effects; CFD; mass transfer; pulsations; flow distribution;

    Abstract : In order to reduce emissions from vehicles powered by an internal combustion engine, an exhaust aftertreatment system is normally mounted on the engine. This aftertreatment system normally consists of one or several catalytic converters. READ MORE
