  1. 1. An investigation of the radiation chemistry of a hydrocarbon system and simulation of ESR spectra of triplet state molecules

    Author : Ola Claesson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radiation chemistry; isotope effects; energy transfer; selective straction; spectrum simulation;

    Abstract : This thesis can be divided into two parts.The aim of the studies described in the first part of the thesis isto make clear the dominating processes in the selective decorrpositionof certain solutes that follow low-terrperature radiolysis of crystalline hydrocarbons.1. READ MORE

  2. 2. Possibilities to Utilize Species from the Mozambican Forest Biomass for the Production of Essential Oils : Study of Eucalyptus and Pinus Species and Application of Citronellal as Raw Material for Flavour Chemistry

    Author : Felisberto P. Pagula; KTH; []
    Keywords : Eucalyptus species; essential oil composition; citronellal; hydroxycitronellal;

    Abstract : This thesis deals partly with the isolation and chemicalanalysis of essential oils from selected Eucalyptus and Pinusspecies grown in Mozambique, and partly with the synthesis ofmore valuable compounds from citronellal isolated fromEucalyptus citriodora Hook oil.More than 60 constituents in the volatile oils wereidentified by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-massspectrometry by comparison with authentic substances andliterature data. 3. 3. Atmospheric pressure ionisation interface considerations for micro column separation with mass spectrometric detection

    Author : Per J. R. Sjöberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Two miniaturised atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (APCI) interfaces were developed for micro column separation and their performances were investigated in high temperature open tubular column liquid chromatography and capillary supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). The most influential parameters, for example, the interface probe position relative to the sampling orifice and the reagent ion plasma composition, were investigated to optimise the ion current signal and stability. 4. 4. Biodegradation of hydrocarbons in soil and water

    Author : Mikael Eriksson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Solid Phase Microextraction; SPME; biodegradation; bioremediation; bioavailability; monitoring; Volatile Organic Compounds VOC ; Screening; headspace sampling; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; PAHs; aliphatic hydrocarbons; total petroleum hydrocarb;

    Abstract : Biodegradation of aliphatic and polycyclic aromatichydrocarbons was studied in soil and liquid cultures attemperatures ranging from -5 º C to 20 º C undervarious aerobic or anaerobic, nitrate reducing, conditions. Twocontaminated soils were used in the studies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Machine Learning methods in shotgun proteomics

    Author : Patrick Truong; Lukas Käll; Peter Nilsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass spectrometry protein summarization Bayesian hierarchical modelling label-free quantification data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry; benchmark mathematical methods; transformers; computational proteomics; proteomics; bioinformatics; bert; ms2 intensity; probabilistic modelling; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : As high-throughput biology experiments generate increasing amounts of data, the field is naturally turning to data-driven methods for the analysis and extraction of novel insights. These insights into biological systems are crucial for understanding disease progression, drug targets, treatment development, and diagnostics methods, ultimately leading to improving human health and well-being, as well as, deeper insight into cellular biology.
