  1. 16. Generic Modelling of Integrated Material Flows and Energy Systems

    Author : Johan Sundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This dissertation describes MIMES, a nonlinear model for the optimization of linked material and energy flow systems. The model is generic, intended for systems that can be described by material and energy balances. READ MORE

  2. 17. Solder Matrix Fiber Composite Thermal Interface Materials

    Author : Josef Hansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal management; composite materials; solder; thermal interface material;

    Abstract : Overheating has been a problem for microelectronics devices for decades, and the problem is exacerbated by the continued trend of miniaturization of features and the corresponding increase in power density. Thermal interface materials (TIMs) target one of the main bottlenecks in heat transfer: the interface between two materials, such as between a heat-generating microchip and a heatsink. READ MORE

  3. 18. Stream monitoring using near-infrared spectroscopy of epilithic material

    Author : Jan Persson; Ingemar Renberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streams; environmental monitoring; Water Framework Directive; water quality; biological impact; epilithic material; near-infrared spectroscopy; diatoms; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : The European Union Water Framework Directive (WFD), with initiatives to manage surface water resources, has increased the need for fast and inexpensive methods for monitoring conditions in streams. The objective of this thesis is to assess the potential of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) of epilithic material to become such method. READ MORE

  4. 19. Improved mapping of steel recycling from an industrial perspective

    Author : Alicia Gauffin; Anders Tilliander; Ichiro Daigo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Recycling rate; lifetime; steel scrap; scrap reserve; dynamic material flow modelling; environmental analysis; greenhouse gas emissions; energy; alloy content; forecasting; backcasting; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The results from this study show that it is possible to obtain data series on the steel scrap collection based on mass balance model on the crude steel production figures by steelmaking reactor type and additional knowledge on process metallurgy as well as information on inputs and outputs into the reactors with an area correlation coefficient of 0,91 compared to data obtained from trade statistics. Furthermore, the study shows that based on a new method it is possible to calculate the time duration of mass flows on a continuous basis. READ MORE

  5. 20. Logistics value of using tracking data from uniquely labelled goods

    Author : Henrik Pålsson; Förpackningslogistik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Information technology; Identification; Integration; Logistics; Material flows; Packaging; RFID technology; Supply chain management; Tracking;

    Abstract : Managing material flows along a supply chain is a complex matter involving a great many interfaces both between activities and between actors. Integration of material flows may smooth the interfaces and thus also the potential errors and delays in the material flows. READ MORE
