  1. 21. Market forces and communist power : Local political institutions and economic development in China

    Author : Maria Edin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political science; Developmental State; New Public Management; Accountability; Decentralisation; Privatisation; Rural Development; Township Enterprises; China; Statsvetenskap; Political science; Statsvetenskap; statskunskap; Political Science;

    Abstract : A new bureaucratic model is taking shape at the local level in China. This new bureaucraticmodel is an important explanatory factor behind local government behaviour in rural areas.Local governments have actively promoted the development of township enterprises,which contributed to China's economic success. 2. 22. TiAlN-based Coatings at High Pressures and Temperatures

    Author : Robert Pilemalm; Magnus Odén; Mikael Olsson; Rachid M'Saoubi; Mats Jöesaar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Materials science; thin films; coatings; spinodal decomposition; TiAlN; TiZrAlN; HPHT; high pressure high temperature; BELT-press; transmission electron microscopy; x-ray diifraction; microhardness;

    Abstract : TiAlN and TiAlN-based coatings that are used of relevance as protection of cutting tool inserts used in metal machining have been studied. All coatings were deposited by reactive cathodic arc evaporation using industrial scale deposition systems. The metal content of the coatings was varied by using different combinations of compound cathodes. READ MORE

  3. 23. Particle interactions at the nanoscale : From colloidal processing to self-assembled arrays

    Author : Bertrand Faure; Lennart Bergström; Albert Philipse; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Colloidal processing; nanoparticles; colloidal forces; titania; iron oxide; Hamaker constant; surface modification; rheology; Monte Carlo simulations; collective properties; superparamagnetism; finite-size effects; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Nanostructured materials are the next generation of high-performance materials, harnessing the novel properties of their nanosized constituents. The controlled assembly of nanosized particles and the design of the optimal nanostructure require a detailed understanding of particle interactions and robust methods to tune them. READ MORE

  4. 24. Improved understanding of sublevel blasting : Determination of the extent of the compacted zone, its properties and the effects on caving

    Author : Nikolaos Petropoulos; Daniel Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sublevel mining; compaction; confining material; confined blast; impact tests; burden dynamics; coarse-grained material; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Sublevel caving (SLC) is a mass mining method relying on the flowability of the blasted material. The ore is blasted in slices against caved material which is mainly waste rock. The result of the confined blast is greatly influenced by the interaction between the blasted material and the caved material. READ MORE

  5. 25. Undercover Operations in No-women's Land : The Swedish Armed Forces through a Gender Lens

    Author : Anders W Berggren; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; equality; military; gender; armed forces; organisational culture; organizational culture; power; officers; Industrial psychology; industripsykologi; Arbetspsykologi;

    Abstract : Since 1980, there are no formal restrictions for women to serve as officers wherever and in what positions they want to in the Swedish Armed Forces (SAF). In this thesis, the author examines what has been achieved so far in terms of integration of women, what the situation of female officers is looking like today, and what impact their presence has had on the military organisation.
