  1. 21. Interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum - Supported catalysts and chemical sensors

    Author : Elin Becker; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Periodic operation In situ spectroscopy; XAS; CO; Sensing mechanism; Low-temperature activity; XANES; Pt; Environmental catalysis; Support material; CH4; Chemical sensors;

    Abstract : This thesis aims at increasing the understanding of the interactions of methane and carbon monoxide with platinum in connection to catalysis and sensor technology for emission control. Specifically, the low-temperature oxidation of methane and carbon monoxide over supported platinum catalysts and the sensor response mechanism towards CO of platinum-based chemical field effect sensors were studied. 2. 22. Interaction of CO and methane with platinum, Low-temperature oxidation and sensor response mechanisms

    Author : Elin Becker; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO; Low-temperature activity; XAS; In situ spectroscopy; Environmental catalysis; Support material; Periodic operation; XANES; Chemical sensors;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis project was to increase the understanding of the mechanisms for low-temperature oxidation of carbon monoxide and methane over supported platinum catalysts. In situ spectroscopic methods together with mass spectrometry were used to study the catalysts during both steady state and transient conditions. READ MORE

  3. 23. Structural behaviour of shotcrete in hard rock tunnels

    Author : Andreas Sjölander; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Fredrik Johansson; Eivind Grøv; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shotcrete; structural behaviour; material models; rock support; bond strength; fibre-reinforcement; Concrete Structures; Betongbyggnad;

    Abstract : Tunnels in hard and jointed rock are normally excavated in an arch shape to enable the rock mass to support its weight. Since the beginning of the 1980's, fibre reinforced shotcrete (FRS) in combination with rock bolts have been the dominating support method for hard rock tunnels. READ MORE

  4. 24. Key Notes on the Unruly City : Social, Material, and Spatial Transgressions

    Author : Adam Bergholm; Catharina Gabrielsson; Robin Wilson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Right to the City; Art; Technology and Design; Konst; teknik och design;

    Abstract : This research departs from three intersecting field studies in Berlin, Copenhagen, and Paris, and includes both my interventions in the urban texture and integrations with existing communities working in the subject field of the Right to the City (Lefebvre 1968). The projects explore the mutable “nature” of cities and build on political philosophies which describe egalitarian actions that have shaped what those places could be. READ MORE

  5. 25. Understanding European Arms Export Controls : Material Interests and Competing Norms

    Author : Mark Bromley; Thomas Jonter; Neil Cooper; Michael Brzoska; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; arms control; arms export controls; defence industry; dual-use export controls; EU; international relations; norms; organization theory; organized hypocrisy; Sweden; International Relations; internationella relationer;

    Abstract : This thesis seeks to better understand the formation and implementation of the restrictions that the EU and EU member states have imposed on exports of military and security equipment. Specifically, the thesis develops two norms-based theoretical frameworks for understanding how and why particular restrictions become integrated in states’ national and collective export controls, why others are rejected, and the different ways this integration occurs.
