6. Homogenization of reaction-diffusion problems with nonlinear drift in thin structures
Abstract : We study the question of periodic homogenization of a variably scaled reaction-diffusion equation with non-linear drift of polynomial type. The non-linear drift was derived as hydrodynamic limit of a totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) for a population of interacting particles crossing a domain with obstacle. READ MORE

7. Clarkson type inequalities and geometric properties of banach spaces
Abstract : In this thesis Clarkson's inequalities and their generalizations are the main tools. The technique that can be used to prove Clarkson type inequalities in more dimensions is shown. We also establish Clarkson type inequalities in general Banach spaces and point out the connections between Clarkson's inequalities and the concept of type and cotype. READ MORE

8. Some studies within applied mathematics with focus on conditional symmetries of partial differential equations and bending waves in plates
Abstract : This is thesis in mathematics with special focus on applied mathematics and mathematical physics. There is an introduction (in Svedish), two papers and two addendums to the first paper. The second paper is published in an international journal. READ MORE

9. Some modes of convergence and their application to homogenization and optimal composites design
Abstract : In this thesis, we develop, extend, apply, and discuss a number of methods for the study of limits of sequences of functions and operators. The connection between the notion of two-scale convergence and more general concepts of convergence is investigated and some alternative classes of admissible test functions are characterized. 10. Generalized Vandermonde matrices and determinants in electromagnetic compatibility
Abstract : Matrices whose rows (or columns) consists of monomials of sequential powers are called Vandermonde matrices and can be used to describe several useful concepts and have properties that can be helpful for solving many kinds of problems. In this thesis we will discuss this matrix and some of its properties as well as a generalization of it and how it can be applied to curve fitting discharge current for the purpose of ensuring electromagnetic compatibility.
