1. Generalized Vandermonde matrices and determinants in electromagnetic compatibility
Abstract : Matrices whose rows (or columns) consists of monomials of sequential powers are called Vandermonde matrices and can be used to describe several useful concepts and have properties that can be helpful for solving many kinds of problems. In this thesis we will discuss this matrix and some of its properties as well as a generalization of it and how it can be applied to curve fitting discharge current for the purpose of ensuring electromagnetic compatibility. 2. Extreme points of the Vandermonde determinant in numerical approximation, random matrix theory and financial mathematics
Abstract : This thesis discusses the extreme points of the Vandermonde determinant on various surfaces, their applications in numerical approximation, random matrix theory and financial mathematics. Some mathematical models that employ these extreme points such as curve fitting, data smoothing, experimental design, electrostatics, risk control in finance and method for finding the extreme points on certain surfaces are demonstrated. 3. Asymptotics of random matrices and matrix valued processes
Abstract : This thesis contains three parts. In the first two papers we consider spectral properties of symmetric matrices with elements consisting of independent Ornstein Uhlenbeck processes. The eigenvalues behave as a particle system on the real line with singular interaction consisting of electrostatic repulsion and a linear restoring force. READ MORE

5. Matrix-Less Methods for Computing Eigenvalues of Large Structured Matrices
Abstract : When modeling natural phenomena with linear partial differential equations, the discretized system of equations is in general represented by a matrix. To solve or analyze these systems, we are often interested in the spectral behavior of these matrices. READ MORE
