  1. 16. Modelling of laser plasma interaction with applications to particle acceleration and radiation generation

    Author : Benjamin Svedung Wettervik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plasma; ion acceleration; continuum methods; electron wakefield acceleration; raditation generation; coherent X-ray pulses; Vlasov-Maxwell equations;

    Abstract : The development of laser systems with ultra-high intensities has allowed the study of the relativistic interaction of laser light and ionized matter, plasmas, as well as opened up prospects for compact particle accelerators, generation of high intensity X-ray, XUV radiation, and probing QED-effects, which are present in the high intensity regime. To describe laser matter interaction, it is necessary to self-consistently account for the paths of a large number of particles and the corresponding electromagnetic fields, with the addition of stochastic effects at high laser intensities. Author : Andreas Fhager; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inverse algorithms; microwave tomography; image reconstruction; FDTD; inverse Maxwell problem; mammography;

    Abstract : Microwave tomography for non-destructive detection of internaldielectric properties has received increasing interest during the lastdecades. Several application areas are under research, includingapplications in geoscience, biomedical applications, safety andsecurity etc. READ MORE

  3. 18. Pulsed Electric Field Treatment of Plant Tissue

    Author : Mustafa Fincan; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bimodal Fickian diffusion model; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; generalized Maxwell model; onion Neutral Red; visualization; red beetroot; potato; epidermis; plant tissue; electroporation; Cell permeabilization; Pulsed electric field; PEF;

    Abstract : A pulsed electric field (PEF) is a newly emerged non-thermal food processing technology which has characteristic effects on the cell membrane. PEF processing involves subjecting food to short, repeated pulses of a high electric field between an anode and a cathode. READ MORE

  4. 19. Compact Relativistic Matter Shells with Massless and Charged Particles

    Author : Maximilian Thaller; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spherical Symmetry; massless Einstein-Vlasov system; Einstein-Vlasov-Maxwell system; Static Solutions; Vlasov matter; General Relativity; Einstein-Vlasov-Maxwell system;

    Abstract : The Vlasov model is a matter model that is widely used in physics. In the context of astrophysics and cosmology it describes an ensemble of self gravitating, collisionless particles. These particles can be interpreted as for example ions, stars, or galaxies. READ MORE

  5. 20. On the Einstein-Vlasov system: Stationary Solutions and Small Data Solutions with Charged and Massless Particles

    Author : Maximilian Thaller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Static Solutions; Vector Field Method; non-linear wave equation; massless Einstein-Vlasov system; General Relativity; Conformal Einstein Field Equations; Minkowski stability; Vlasov matter; symmetric hyperbolic system; Einstein-Vlasov-Maxwell system;

    Abstract : The Vlasov matter model describes an ensemble of collisionless particles moving through space-time. These particles interact via the gravitational field which they create collectively. In the framework of General Relativity this gravitational field is described by space-time curvature. READ MORE
