16. Analyses of Spur and Helical Gears
Abstract : The thesis contains three papers that comprise studies of the dynamic behaviour of involute spur and helical gears, and one paper that describes a method to determine the influence of misalignment on the static helical gear tooth stress. In the first study, the influence of the contact ratio on the dynamic response of a spur gear was examined. READ MORE

17. Squat defects and rolling contact fatigue clusters - Numerical investigations of rail and wheel deterioration mechanisms
Abstract : Squat defects, a type of localised rolling contact fatigue damage appearing on rail surfaces with rail break as an ultimate consequence, have concerned infrastructure managers for the last couple of decades. In recent years similar types of defects—so-called studs—that are visually resembling squats, have started to appear. READ MORE

18. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks
Abstract : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 19. Contact stiffness in tyre/road noise modelling and speed dependencies of tyre/road noise generation mechanisms
Abstract : Tools for simulating tyre/road noise are highly valuable in the efforts to limit the negative consequences of road traffic noise.A numerical tyre/road noise simulation tool was in this study used to investigate how the contact stiffness parameter affects the predicted tyre/road noise. 20. Numerical analysis of coalescence-induced jumping droplets on superhydrophobic surfaces
Abstract : Bio-inspired superhydrophobic surfaces are used in numerous technological applications due to their self-cleaning ability. One of the several mechanisms reported in literature and responsible for self-cleaning is the phenomenon of coalescence-induced jumping of droplets from such surfaces. READ MORE
