  1. 6. Pea carbonic anhydrase : a kinetic study

    Author : Inga-Maj Johansson; W. Richard Chegwidden; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pisum sativum; carbonic anhydrase; kinetic studies; site-directed mutagenisis;

    Abstract : The enzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA), catalysing the interconversion between CO2 and HCO3', has long been known to be present in plants as well as in animals. Several of the animal isozymes, but none of the plant CAs, have been extensively studied. READ MORE

  2. 7. Multiscale interfacial engineering of heterogeneous electrocatalysts : From structural design to mechanistic study

    Author : Shiqi Zhou; Jiayin Yuan; Martin Oschatz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heterogeneous electrocatalysis; electronic structure; coordination environment; single-atom catalysts; strain effect; hydrogen evolution reaction kinetics; charge transfer; electrochemical CO^2 reduction; local enrichment; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Abstract : In a typical heterogeneous electrocatalytic reaction, for the given active sites, the electronic structure plays a determining role in electron transfer between the active sites and reactant molecules, which impacts the reaction efficiency. Besides the electronic properties of the electrocatalysts, the reaction interface at which the charge transfer occurs plays an important role in the reaction kinetics. READ MORE

  3. 8. Self-adaptable catalysts : Importance of flexibility and applications in asymmetric catalysis

    Author : Ester Fjellander; Christina Moberg; Jay Siegel; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adaptable; flexible; semi-flexible; symmetry; conformational study; mechanistic study; rotation barrier; VT NMR; asymmetric catalysis; ligand design; allylic alkylation; hydrogenation; azepines; dioxaphosphepines; phosphepines; amines; phosphines; phosphoramidites; phosphinites; palladium; rhodium; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is the design and synthesis of biaryl-based self adaptableligands for asymmetric metal catalysis. The results discussed in papers I-III are covered, together with some unpublished results concerning substrate-adaptable catalysts. A general survey of self-adaptable catalysts is presented first. 4. 9. Samarium(II)-mediated Reactions in Organic Synthesis - Method Development and Mechanistic Investigation

    Author : Tobias Ankner; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Samarium II iodide; reduction; single electron transfer; nitro group reduction; mechanistic study; bond cleavage; deoxygenation; additives; toluenesulfonyl deprotection; defluorination.;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of methods using divalent samarium reagents in organic synthesis. The main focus is placed on functional group reductions, but reductive formation of carbon-carbon bonds has also been investigated. READ MORE

  5. 10. Organocatalytic Acylation for the Kinetic Resolution of Secondary Aryl Alcohols : Synthetic Applications and Mechanistic Studies

    Author : Laura Mesas Sánchez; Peter Dinér; Pavel Kočovský; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinetic resolution; organocatalysis; secondary alcohols; reaction progress kinetic analysis; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The research described in this thesis focuses on the catalytic acylative kinetic resolution (KR) of aromatic secondary alcohols, using a planar-chiral 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) organocatalyst.In the first part of this thesis, the substrate scope of the above mentioned process was expanded to aromatic secondary alcohols that contain an extra functional group in the alkyl moiety, such as 1,2-azido alcohols, 2-hydroxy-2-aryl-ethylphosphonates and 2-hydroxy-2-aryl esters.
