  1. 1. Initiation of herpes simplex virus DNA replication

    Author : Stina Simonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; initiation of DNA replication; origin binding protein; Herpes Simplex Virus;

    Abstract : During virus infection multiple new copies of the virus genome are made by a DNA synthesis machinery. Initiation of DNA replication involves the recognition of origins of DNA replication by an initiator protein. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functions of PDGF-A and -C. Essential ligands for the PDGF alpha receptor

    Author : Hans Boström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; platelet-derived growth factor; PDGF-A; PDGF-C; PDGF alpha receptor; extracellular retention; gene targeting; mouse development; epithelial-mesenchymal interaction; lung; alveolar formation; spina bifida; gastrointestinal villus;

    Abstract : Altered protein kinase activity is a contributing factor in many diseases including most formsof human malignancies, and there is reason to believe that protein kinases will prove to be majordrug targets in the treatment of cancer. Protein kinases mediate most of the signal transduction ineukaryotic cells, regulating cellular events such as transcription, metabolism, proliferation,cytoskeletal rearrangement, migration, differentiation and apoptosis. 3. 3. Den humana mjölkens lipaser : egenskaper och fysiologiska aspekter

    Author : Olle Hernell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : I avhandlingen visas att: Human mjölk innehåller två lipaser. Det ena är ett serum-stimulerat lipas (lipoprotein lipas). Lipoprotein lipaser är enzymer som har en central roll i den normala katabolismen av de triglyceridrika plasma- lipoproteinerna. Lipaset har sannolikt inte någon fysiologisk funktion i mjölken. 4. 4. Protein recognition domains in heparan sulfate

    Author : Emadoldin Feyzi Talarposhti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; heparan sulfate; heparin; structure; growth factors; herpes simplex virus; antithrombin; aging; regulation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Abstract : Heparan sulfate (HS) is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) implicated in various physiological and pathological processes such as cell proliferation, viral infection and inhibition of blood coagulation. These effects are due to interactions of HS with proteins. READ MORE

  5. 5. Glucuronyl C5-epimerases in the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans

    Author : Åsa Hagner McWhirter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical and Physiological Chemistry; medicinsk och fysiologisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on two enzymes, both glucuronyl CS-epimerases, that catalyse the conversion of D-glucuronic acid (GlcA) into L-iduronic acid (IdoA) residues in the repeating disaccharide units of heparin/heparan sulphate (HS) and dermatan sulphate (DS) polymers. These glycosaminoglycans are produced as proteoglycans, in which linear polysaccharide chains are attached covalently to a protein core. READ MORE
