  1. 1. Conduction laser welding : modelling of melt pool with free surface deformation

    Author : Josefine Svenungsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Conduction laser welding; numerical modelling; Computational Fluid Dynamics; OpenFOAM; free surface deformation; melt pool; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Laser welding is commonly used in the automotive-, steel- and aerospace industry. It is a highly non-linear and coupled process where the weld geometry is strongly affected by the flow pattern in the melt pool. Experimental observations are challenging since the melt pool and melt flow below the surface are not yet accessible during welding. READ MORE

  2. 2. Electronic Waste Plastics Characterisation and Recycling by Melt-processing

    Author : Erik Stenvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; melt-blending; WEEE; ternary polymer blend; processing conditions; plastics recycling; composition analysis; e-waste;

    Abstract : Melt-processing of blended plastics from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is a method to facilitate mechanical recycling, and this might improve the recycling conditions and increase the amounts of plastics being recycled. To ensure the quality of melt-blended plastic waste, it is essential to know the composition of the incoming material and then possibly improve the compatibility between the different polymer phases. 3. 3. High performing cast aluminium-silicon alloys

    Author : Martin Riestra; Salem Seifeddine; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jessica Elfsberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium cast alloys; melt quality; eutectic modification; grain refinement; microstructure; tensile properties;

    Abstract : The need to produce lighter components due to environmental aspects and the development of electrical vehicles represents an opportunity for cast aluminium-silicon alloys. With high specific strength, good castability, high corrosion resistance and recyclability, these alloys offer an attractive combination of properties as an alternative to steel, cast iron and titanium-based components in certain applications. 4. 4. Imperfections in Recycled Aluminium-Silicon Cast Alloys

    Author : Anton Bjurenstedt; Anders Jarfors; Salem Seifeddine; Pål Schmidt; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Imperfections; Recycled cast Al-Si alloy; Fe-rich particles; Melt quality; Fractography; Differential scanning calorimetry.;

    Abstract : In striving to produce high quality cast components from recycled aluminium alloys,imperfections have to be considered, because recycled aluminium usually containsmore of it. However, there are great energy savings to be made by using recycledaluminium; as little as 5% of the energy needed for primary aluminium productionmay be required. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mechanical properties of semi-solid Al castings : Role of stirring

    Author : Qing Zhang; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Stefan Jonsson; Tomas Liljenfors; Arne K. Dahle; Johan Ahlström; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rheometal™ process; aluminum alloys; stirring; segregation; porosity; oxides; ductility; fatigue performance; melt quality;

    Abstract : Aluminum castings have been widely used in the automotive industry to reduce the vehicle's weight. However, the existence of casting defects significantly limits its application. The most common and detrimental defects in aluminum castings are porosity and oxides. READ MORE
